Tender, sweet, and funny
This book is a gem. It's a perfect combination of sad, wise, and funny. I don't know how the author does it, but the story sails from hilarious to tender to heartbreaking so seamlessly that you end up feeling the richest spectrum of emotions within minutes. Such an enjoyable read

Quick, easy read
Nora's husband left her and her 2 kids. So, as a scriptwriter, she writes a movie about it.The film crew decided to film some scenes on Nora's property, and the famous actor portraying the male lead is the gorgeous Leo who invades into their lives and starts to fill a hole in their family.I really enjoyed this read. Felt too good to be true at times, but still a quick and easy read that I read it in one sitting. The only reason I marked it down a star is because of the miscommunication trope, which is my least favourite trope. However, the story was cute. The characters were likeable. I'm intrigued to read more work from this author.

Just found a new auto-buy author!
I read this book in 3 days. Annabel sure knows how to creat great characters and a page turning story line. Loved watching Nora and Leo's story unfold and if you're looking for a great summer read, I'd thoroughly recommend this.

Very well written but rather gruelling
This book is written by someone who is clearly a very capable author, although I wouldn't call it "hilarious" as described in the Amazon headline. The first half was really enjoyable and you couldn't help but like Nora, from who's point of view the stage (and I use the wordplay advisedly) was set. Unfortunately, something goes wrong in the relationship and chapter after chapter dealt with this... to the extent that it all became rather gruelling and I found myself skipping through paragraphs trying to avoid becoming even more depressed.Of course, we knew there was always going to be a HEA ending once the core issue had been sorted out at last but, to get there, I had just wanted to rush through the miserable stuff to reach the happy bit.A good story but too much was not enjoyable to give it more than 3 stars and I have deleted it so I don't accidentally start reading it again in a couple of years.

lighthearted romance
I couldn’t find a single fault with this book. I was gripped from the very first page and loved every second of it. It was a perfect light and fluffy romance. It’s a rare occurrence that I prefer the FMC to the MMC but I just wasn’t vibing with Leo. I liked him but the ghosting really put me off, even when you do find out the reason, I didn’t feel sorry for him. Communication was lacking from him. One positive about Leo is that he put Nora’s kids first. I loved the bond they had.Nora is a strong Queen, I absolutely love her. I loved that this story heavily involved her kids and we saw how strong their bond was. I found this book really empowering and it had no faults in my opinion.

Nora Goes Off Script
Nora makes a living writing cheesy formulaic scripts for The Romance Channel. When her selfish and entitled husband finally leaves her, all she feels is relief. She writes about it and sells the script to Hollywood, and famous actor Leo Vance is playing the part of her ex husband. The film crew arrive to shoot a few scenes in the cosy writing retreat in her garden she calls the Tea House. She is surprised to find Leo has stayed behind when everyone else has left. He offers to rent the Tea House for a week to get away from the pressures of his fame.Nora likes to watch the sunrise on her porch every morning, Leo joins her and they get to know each other better. His fascination with everyday life is both touching and hilarious. He wins over Nora, her children, Arthur and Bernadette, and everyone he meets in the local town. Inevitably, they fall in love, but just when all is going well a major misunderstanding puts everything in jeopardy.A lot of the romance novels I have read recently have been a big disappointment. It is not easy to get it right. The story may have its flaws, but this can be overlooked if the characters and their mutual attraction are believable. Nora Goes Off Script is one of the good ones. The characters are well written and convincing, and the witty dialogue is an added bonus. Bearing in mind the ‘hero’ is a famous actor, the plot may be a touch unrealistic, but this is fiction, and I for one really enjoyed it.The story is told entirely from Nora’s point of view, and we get to know all her thoughts and fears. She is a survivor and will be alright no matter what life throws at her. Arthur and Bernadette’s relationship with Leo contrasts with how their real father behaved towards them. The story is all the better for the inclusion, as children don’t often feature so prominently in books like this. I enjoyed the behind-the-scenes look at the film industry, and really wish I had a porch to watch the sunrise from. This is the first book by Annabel Monaghan that I have read, it’s her debut adult novel, and I’m really looking forward to what she writes next.

magically good modern romance ..
loved this novel which saw me through a very tough time. Nora's family life seemed very real to me and her tale of love star-crossef love found, lost and (maybe..I'm giving no spoilers) found again had a neatly surprise twist which added bite to a modern romanceplayed out between a single scriptwriter mum's enticingly rundown home and glitzy Hollywood..

Very enjoyable
I enjoyed reading this book. It was light-hearted and happy story with well drawn characters realistically set in small town America.

Annabel is my new favourite author!
I loved this book! I read it all in one night because I couldn’t put it down.I’ve subsequently purchased her other two books. They are well written and sometimes hilarious but other times poignant. Characters are well developed and relatable.

Inventive and Fun!
Monaghan’s story was richly imagined and perfectly paced, and I found myself on page 80 before I remembered that I was only going to read the sample before I went to sleep. And the details were so resonant! Being pitied by an entire town is my nightmare, and Monaghan explored it, and other fascinating situations, with wit and grace. There were also whole sections that were fun to read a second time with fresh knowledge as well.

Don't let its thin spine fool you, you cannot miss this book!!
Short and still so refreshing! I went into this book thinking it would be a fun time, a somewhat palette clenser seeing how short and light the description of it was, and I did not expect for one second for it to have a hold on me like it was! while I did not think of it at the beginning, since their first meeting was rather swift and casual, I loved Nora and Leo's relationship, the bond he establishes with her children, and the beautiful descriptions that the author kept throwing about the scenery, the sunrise, and the main character's deep, inside thoughts. Nora was a fantastic character, and seeing her many facets as mother, divorced, writer, and just a woman who is trying to re-find who she is after loosing herself to someone else's views. I really enjoyed my first Annabel Monaghan book, and I can bet it won't be my last!!
