Protective, Slightly Heavy, a Couple Minor Inconveniences
The cover was very easy to install. As others have noted, the cutouts are spot-on. It adds a considerable amount of weight to the device, especially with the type cover on, but that's typically a cost for decent protection. For the most part it's very easy to handle the device with this cover on as it gives some good grip around the edges, but the added weight would make it hard to hold it up to read for any length of time. That's not how I use my Surface so it's not a concern of mine but it's worth noting.I read several reviews that stated that the thin plastic strip that goes across the bottom is very flexible and moves around a lot during handling and I'll confirm that. I understand the need to have a thinner strip there (to allow connection of they type cover) but I'm guessing that's the weakest part of this case and will likely be the first thing to break. If I grab the device by the bottom to pull it out of my bag, that thin strip tends to flex and slide and it makes it a little less secure in my hand and feels like it may break at some point. Not a huge deal, just something I need to be aware of and be careful of.Another minor inconvenience is that the stylus needs to be snapped in high enough to allow access to the cutout to swing the stand out. If you snap it in too high it then blocks the headphone jack. So there is a sweet spot that allows access to about 75% of the slot to grab the stand and pull it out while still allowing access to the headphone jack. Again, not a huge issue and not a deal breaker for me. All the cutouts are VERY clean and precise and that's much more important to me than the position of the stylus. Also worth noting... those that said that the stylus clip is strong weren't joking... so much better than the magnetic attachment to the tablet. I used to lose the stylus in my bag all the time because it would get knocked off. Not in this clip... It's a solid grasp without being obnoxiously hard to remove the stylus when needed. And the clip seems designed in such a way that it will not weaken over time but that's just an assumption at this point. The strap on the back is something I'll likely never need, but I'll note that unlike some other tablet cases that have that feature, this one seems VERY durable. It's a rubber-ish strap with great grip (imagine a very thick, wide, resistance band), it's plenty tight and feels like it will outlast the case itself. Often times that strap is cheap elastic material that ends up staying stretched out or it frays and looks like crap. Not this one. It's very nice. It lays completely flat on the case back and is recessed just enough that it won't catch on things as I slide it in and out of my bag or if I slide the device across a table. The little rubber band in the corner that holds the type cover closed is a nice addition. It seems very thin where it attaches to the case itself, so we'll see if it holds up. But as a feature it's a good one if it doesn't break. All in all this seems like a great case so far and suits my needs perfectly. I use my Surface for work and I'm in and out of a vehicle often and I wanted some edge protection in case of a drop. I also use it on the treadmill and I feel better having some extra protection there as well.

sturdy, functional
Great case at a great price. It seems to protect the device well, the strap to hold the keyboard cover in place is functional and out of the way during normal use. Have not used the hand strap on the back much but it does help sometimes. easy access to the ports. The charging cable is a little snug, a little extra press is needed to make sure its charging. I personally like this, it releases stress on the connector by having the case pinch it. the pen clip is also stiff, once again a benefit for me. when i throw it in my bag or at work i know the pen is help secure. when using the device i place the pen on the screen near the storage location and the magnets hold it well enough. the only thing im not super happy with is access to the kickstand, i have to turn the device around to flip it out, rather than a quick flip with my left hand when its in my lap, a minor inconvenience that is well worth the protection and added benefit.

Almost Perfect
Update - August 2019: Still using this case and it works fine.Original review - December 2018:I have a Pro LTE version. When I ordered this case, I was using the MoKo slim cover case (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017129RHQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). The benefit of the MoKo cover is it keeps the bottom of the keyboard clean and it's not bulky, but I really wanted to try a case that I could use the device's kickstand.I've only had this case for 4 days and this is what I've experienced so far.I really do like using the device's kickstand. I have the most recent version pen and to avoid blocking access to the kickstand, I place the pen with the point facing up and little farther up in the clip. This hasn't caused any problems and the pen is really, really, really secure. I like the pen holder better on this case better than the strap on my former case because it holds it firmly close to the case. All the cutouts seem fine and easy to access. I've only used the usb (for docking station) and the charger. The corner strap that holds the keyboard closed works well and is not noticeable when not in use. The hand strap on the back is well, handy. Especially helpful since when I write and hold the device vertically (with the top to the right), the bottom edge of the case (where the keyboard connects) is loose...The downside to this case is the looseness of the piece along the bottom. I just wish it was stiffer plastic. It seems to bend easy and I'm careful not to pick it up by the bottom. Also I've noticed the case is loose in the area in front of where the charger attaches. I imagine it's not easy designing something to span across the bottom and allow for the keyboard to be attached.Overall, I'm glad I purchased this case and I'm going to use it as long as I can. If something happens to the bottom piece, I'll come back and update my review.

This one actually works
After trying basically all the Surface Pro 4/2017 cases on the market, this is the only one that I found works as described and has no real flaws. The only thing I will say about it is that the bottom grips (where the notch is cut out for the keyboard cover) are very slightly flimsy, meaning they don't grab and hold the device quite as firmly as the part around the top and sides. But this is a very minor problem.Everything else works great. All the ports and buttons are accessible, works perfectly with the keyboard cover, there's a little strap to hold the cover in place when closed, and as a bonus, I like the fact that the Microsoft logo is not concealed by the case itself (represent!).This case is VERY rugged and will adequately protect the device.
