Material ok, graphite an plastic, action and settings control functional.
I got the the "3000" version. This is a very lightweight, light construction reel. Materials are graphite and some plastics. Those materials should be corrosion resistance but there are also unknown alloy parts that could quickly corrode. So you will want to rinse and dry as much as possible after use in salt or brackish water. The setting such as drag work ok, although they don't progress smoothly as more expensive reels.Reeling in is not smooth and is a bit hinky. This is certainly better than low end stuff one gets at the big box "S Authority" junk collection but not much better.I will keep an eye out for corrosion and will report back and amend this review if it fails early.

Well made and beautiful
I never thought I'd think of a fishing reel as beautiful. But this is. It is beautiful. Its action feels smooth, and the materials are impressive (ball bearings, graphite, stainless steel and aluminum).I'm a novice fisherman. Its not so much that I actually want to kill fish, as that I decided months ago that I want to be able to do so, given that civilization and the planet are beginning fall apart (tribal hatred, immense random and tribal violence, ecological collapse, class warfare, mass migration and such). I anticipate practicing "catch and release."As another reviewer said, the bail does take some cranking oomph to get it to close. In it's defense, my research suggests that spinning reel bails should be manually closed after each cast, and that although bails will close automatically when reeling begins this can be rough, and can result on the first spin in the line missing the reel and tangling.I gather that extra line spools are used mainly to switch between types or strengths of line. Additionally, I see that the spare black line spool that comes with this reel (probably made of plastic) has a slightly different gear ratio (5.1:1 vs 5.2:1), as well as slightly different ratings of lbs/yards of various weights of line. This reel (and the spools that come with it) are labeled 3000. A commenter elsewhere indicates that small reels in the 1000 - 3500 range work well with light lines in the 4 - 8 lb range, and that larger fish such as bass or salmon require a bigger reel, in the 3000 - 6000 range. Another source indicates that spinning reels operate best with fairy limp and flexible fishing lines (apparently meaning braided line, as opposed to monofilament). As I gain experience I might develop some other preference, like gear designed for bigger fish, but this reel is incontestably a beauty.

Nice
Good spinning reel. Spools on lots of line and has extra spool. Metal spools not plastic. Smooth reel, like high end reels. This was a 3000 series. Easily fits 6 ft rods. Casting is great. Able to throw the line out 50 yards or more, depending on your set up. Good value you for the money. Great casting and good retrieval rate.

Good but not great
My initial impression (after a short time of introductory use) is that this is a pretty good reel. It seems small and is definitely on the lighter side, possibly because it is made out of graphite and not some type of metal. I have no complaints about the adjustable ambidextrous crank and I find the handle very comfortable to grip when reeling. It moves very smoothly. There were times I had difficulty getting the bail to close. It needs a little momentum. If you open the bail right at the point that it will close with cranking (I hope you understand what I mean) it takes a little extra oomph to get it to close. If the closing point is still 1/2 crank or more away, the momentum helps it close more easily. I also do not like how the spool attaches. I know I can be pretty picky but, when I get my drag set where I want it, I want to leave it there. The problem with removing this spool from the reel is it requires unscrewing the drag knob until the spool comes off. I prefer a reel with a quick release button to remove the spool without changing the drag. Ultimately, all of these nit-picky issues are about personal preference. This is really a good quality reel. But, if you are picky like me and you agree with my preferences, you will not really prefer to use this reel

A good quality reel for the money. At £30 it’s a good buy. The reel feels decent and nice and smooth. Expected the reel not to be as good quality in all honesty. Happy with purchase fir my fish rig max rod

Low price ,but still good quality
This is a pretty good quality reel.It is way cheaper than most of my reels and still does the job well.It is fairly big in size, but not big enough for me to use it for saltwater fishing / beach casting. The reel comes with a spare spool, which is great as you can have 2 different types of fishing line and you can swap between them really easy.I personally use this reel for freshwater fishing and mainly for carp fishing.Overall good starter reel and a really good price.Hopefully my review was Helpful for you.

Initial thoughts are its an okay reel
But I haven't had a chance yet to try it. The pricing for the range and build quality is good, it looks very nice and I am going to try it 'Piking' for which it looks eminently suitable. Easy, smooth action, the winder can be used either side. There are several in the range weighing in from 230 to 415g so look at the scale before purchasing. It comes with a two-year warranty and a storage bag. Anything untoward and I will edit, but as it stands, I am very happy to put five stars on it.JC
