Great first knife!
Purchased this for my 7yo son as his first "camp-task" knife. Typical Mora-high quality steel, razor sharp edge. Taught my son to make feather sticks and he carved his own stakes for his tent as well. Definitely worth the money. No 90 degree spine, so it'll need a little file work if you want to use it to strike a ferro rod.

Good Quality First Knife
Good quality first knife for my son. The sheath is very cheap plastic, that could be improved upon but the knife is perfect for a beginner, with no point, it is very sharp on one side but has a nice handle and guard for fingers.

Real Knife -- Safe for Kids
The headline says it all. Great first knife for youngster. Nice guard and no sharp point. For kids that are ready for knives I highly recommend the Morakniv Rookie.

Great knife. Terrible sheath.
Sharp. Right sized. Quality knife. Horrible sheath. Hard to describe how bad the sheath is. Knife is a solid five stars; sheath is a negative five. I bought for the knife so... four stars.

Great starter knife for a kid
Kids (9 and 12) loved them as gifts during our recent camping trip. I showed them that it was the same steal and same razor sharp edge as my Mora Kansbul just the tip was rounded. We made feather sticks and did some whittling. I had to get them to stop making feather sticks. They really liked the knives and I felt okay with them using them because of the finger guards. Sized well for their hands. Overall incredibly pleased.

So exciting! First knife for kiddo!!!
My 3 1/2 year old has been getting more and more curious and adventuresome about the outdoors. When I walked into the kitchen to him holding a butter knife trying to carve an apple I decided it may be a good idea to start the process of knife safety. So I found this, everything else looked gimmicky or unsafe. I also purchased cut resistant gloves in his size. The only thing I'm not sure I like is the flimsy thin plastic guard, I find myself putting my finger on the wrong side of the guard trying to get it out. So thwe good stuff...His hand fits on the handle perfectly. The guard isn't on the top so you can use a thumb for support. The tip is very blunt, when my son first used it he said "oh! It's a butterknife??!"It is sharp as **** which means less resistance, and less accidents from jerking and pushing/pulling too hard. It's stainless so it's easy to clean upHis first go of it he did great. I put him in my lap, put a piece of leather in his lap to protect his legs, put on the cut gloves, handed him a thin long stick in one hand, and the rookie in the other, and put my hands over his and guided him through it. It peeled that sucker like a hot butterknife through butter! HaHe loved it, and we talked about how to be safe, and always asking for help, always cut away from us, what sharp is, watch where your fingers are, etc, and learned that he can't say wittle. If you are considering a first knife, get this one! 100%Teach them how to be safe, always saying no will end up with them doing it anyway but not knowing how.

Extremely sharp
This thing is razor blade sharpened. I’m not sure if I would consider this kid friendly. Maybe big kid friendly. We had to really dull it out for my son

Winner for kids first knife
As expected typical Mora quality. Sharp, sturdy and functional. Fits my 6yr olds hand perfectly. This is a great starter knife for a child.

High quality
A high quality knife for young children to be used under supervision by adults, the safety features are thoughtful and it will last a long time with care. Be sure to get a small sharpening stone to touch it up between uses.
