I found this was helpful in removing the bulk of the old mastic but there was still a residue left behind that I had to use a razor blade to remove to finish the job. Would it have been just as easy to use the razor blade to start off and save a bit of money?

CornerTape Silicone Remover
Initially purchased a plastic model, however the angled end wore away pretty soon after. This metal version makes the task a bit easier (still difficult to remove the old silicone completely and a fair amount of effort is required) though after awhile, my hand was slightly sore holding the tool so I was swapping between both the plastic and metal removers to complete the job.

What is the sharpening stone for?
I bought this because I was disappointed with the plastic version I had, it just was not sharp enough to cut away the silicon beads. Since this one comes with a sharpening stone I was anticipating some sharp edges - not a bit of it. The scraper is nearly sharp, but the push/pull corner section is not sharpened at all, the edge is basically the thickness of the metal. I'm going to get the dremel out and put some edges on myself, sorry I bought this, it is no better than the cheap plastic ones.

A bit better and longer lasting than a plastic one
works about the same as the plastic ones but lasts forever.Not a magic tool though as it's still a difficult job. Just makes it a bit easier.

Does what it says! However beer in mind a lot of work had to into it, and in certain corners it simply did not reach. But the metal one is much more powerful than the plastic one, without a doubt

It does what it says on the packet.
Whips off the old silicone no bother but can be a bit harsh on the hands so I used a piece of old pushbike innertube over the handle for comfort and grip, sorted.

makes removing the silicone around UPVC windows a doddle
the mould on the silicone around the UPVC windows internally was shocking when I moved in. Got this tool and it does the job really well. Easy to use and comes with its own whetstone sharpener. Slowly going through room by room and removing all the old silicone and can't think of anything that could beat this...
