Cornertape Sealant Complete Kit

Tools fine but cornertape useless
The scraper and former tools are useful and the scrapers are particularly useful for removing existing sealent. However the cornertape itself is a complete waste of time. Very tricky to use in the confined space of a shower cubicle. Once I had attached it to the wall, carefully following the comprehensive video tutorial, I could not get the clear plastic backing off without it peeling off the wall. Similarly the foil tape would come away too. I battled with it for half and hour trying to tape up one tri-corner and it was a nightmare. Much quicker and easier just to use decorator's masking tape and that also gives a perfect finish. However the kit was very cheap so probably worth it for the scraper tools and wire brush alone.Maybe the cornertape could work with a lot of practice and if you are in a nice, easy access kitchen with loads of space (like on the tutorial video) but I am pretty sceptical.

Takes time to get it right, but results are good
I ordered this a few weeks ago and was confused when I was sent two. Upon contacting the seller (very quick and polite, by the way), I was told the double pack was standard. At the time, I didn't think I'd need an extra pack, but once I got started I realised that two rolls of tape were necessary.I'm still new to DIY, but I always take the time to prepare properly. I watched an instructional video on using the tape, and took all the right steps to prepare my surfaces. The sealant removal tools seem to be designed for very narrow gaps. They were tough to use effectively in a wider gap between my bath and tiles, but were perfect for when I used them on my kitchen worktops. The tape itself is quite tricky to get right - I did a practice run on an old surface. Getting the tape in the corner takes patience, removing the clear backing without mucking up the silver tape even more so.However, I persevered! I applied and reapplied the tape as necessary til I had straight, even areas for caulking (this is what I mean about needing two rolls). I got to work applying my silicone sealant, and everythung from there was easy. The forming tool is so simple but well-designed for smoothing out sealant - certainly beats the teaspoon I used last time. Removing the tape and seeing straight lines is very satisfying - any tiny gaps I had to go over were because I was caulking a larger area, and the forming tool helped keep things tidy.On the whole, I'd buy the tape again. It is a good product, it just takes practice.Minor note - disregarding the DVD, better instructions should be printed out for easy reference.

Nice finish
Great having a DVD to show how to apply but it's not as easy as it looks. Our son had used it before and agreed that it takes a bit of practice. The clear film is difficult to peel off, tweezers were needed to make a start. It does give a neater finish and might be easier next time! It's certainly worth the money considering the tools included.

Excellent value for money
Does the job and excellent value for money - you can pay £3-4 for a plastic sealant remover on its own and more for sealant smoother tools so even if you use selected pieces of this kit you really can't complain. Arrived quickly too.

Metal removal tool low quality welded joint...
Price is reasonable but the metal removal tool had broken apart quickly after single used due to poor spot welded joint.

Four Stars
once you get used to getting of the backing it works very well, practice makes perfect

Cheap but does the job.
Carnertape is a great idea and if the work site is prepared thoroughly it works a treat. Not much tape in this kit but it is good value.
