Great Book, But Author Must Go to Sex Camp
As romances go, this one is good. The Pierce family and their lively farm make a warm, interesting setting. Perhaps the best character is a five year old girl named Aurora, aka Roar. She calls her step-dad, Beckett, “Bucket.” However, throughout this series, the evidently mandatory sex scenes, though hot, are repetitive and boring. In this, the third book, there are a couple of variations during the last such scene. But Score’s scenes mostly have the same bases touched in the same order. Male does steps 1, 2, 3, 4. Female melts. Then she does steps 5 and 6. Male loves them. Male does steps 7 and 8, and both melt. If sex can’t be varied in fiction, why take the time to write it? In real life, couples often fall into the same old steps in the same old orders. Why put these fictional characters into staid, repetitive sexual encounters when they could be inventive, creative, even a little wild? Sex camp for authors might help. This said, the many characters are well drawn. While the plot bogs down sometimes, soon something vivid happens to hold the reader. For example, the sudden trip to LA is a gem. It’s accurate, and it gives a welcome break from the farm and the town of Blue Moon. The next book in the series sounds like it may be even better than this one. On to the next!

How does lucy keep doing it
Another great read. I'm old and have read a lot of books. This story should be a movie. I knew every plot point before it happened and Ms Score had me ugly crying again. I love it.

The bad decisions of our youth...
I wasn't sure how I would go with reading The Last Second Chance. Was the how and why of Jax's abandonment going to satisfy me enough to believe in their love story? Did Jax leave Joey just to seek fame and fortune? Should Joey be left alone because she says she's content on her own and her horses make her happy? Like Joey's concerns, how was Jax going to convince me that he's staying for good this time? Well, the truth is in the 4-star rating. I'm convinced that Jax WAS a dinglebat...but I'm also convinced that he learnt his lesson and knows where his heart is at.Jax and Joey are completely lovable and from the start, I knew they were meant for each other. But, I also know that Jax hurt Joey and won't tell her why. How am I supposed to forgive him...I mean...How is Joey supposed to forgive him? It was going to have to be a really good reason to convince me...I mean Joey, that those eight years apart were necessary.I completely understood Joey's hesitation in giving Jax a second chance. There was an undeniable spark that hasn't dimmed from when they were teenagers. Joey is not willing to risk her heart again, but she can't deny her body still yearns for his touch. Jax wants Joey's body...but he wants her heart more. It's going to take a lot of grovelling, plenty of sweet words, and a few big gestures to win Joey's heart again.Lucy Score does a wonderful job of convincing me that Jax is worth taking a risk on and Joey will really only be happy with Jax by her side. This story is sweet, sexy and at times very funny which balanced out my frustration, confusion and sadness. I knew that is was going to be rough at times, but it was never too rough or heartbreaking. This series is quickly becoming a favourite. I love these imperfect characters who just want to love and be loved warts and all. Their town is quirky and full of funny and very original characters. Jax and Joey's family are exactly what a family should be...loyal but annoying. I admit that I'm always reading this series hungry as food is mentioned quite a lot. I want Joey's recipes...to give hubby. ;-)Sorry, this review is a little bit rambly. I'm a wee bit tired but I was determined to not go to bed until I'd got my thoughts down. If you love a good small-town romance, I highly recommend giving this series a go. Lucy Score writes funny, heartwarming and original stories that always leave me satisfied.

Second Chances
"His hand shook as he held out the white terrycloth, breath caught when their fingers brushed. It was then that he knew he wouldn’t survive this. Her fire would incinerate him, and he didn’t care. Jax was willing to sacrifice himself. Every time he kissed her, he lost a piece of his soul. What did the rest of those pieces amount to?"This is my 3rd read and at least my 2nd listen of The Last Second Chance by Lucy Score. I have two favorite LFS books and this is one of them. Things We Left Behind is the other. I'm pretty sure I have more Kindle Highlights from this one than any other book.I love Jax & Joey. There were SO many chapters where I laughed over and over, and just as many where I had to grab a tissue and blow my nose because I was crying.Childhood sweethearts, Jax left town after he and Joey were in an accident avoiding a deer. She nearly died but Jax's first aid skills saved her life. They'd been high school sweethearts, but when he left her without a word after the accident, she decided that she'd hate him for the rest of her life.He did well for himself, becoming successful as a screenwriter in LA. But 8 years later, he came home to his family and to start his second chance with Joey. He never stopped loving her.Joey did well in Jax's absence, been successfully running the horse part of the Pierce business, with big plans for what she wants to do in the future. She wants nothing to do with him, but he won't give up until she gives him another chance. When she learns the whole truth of why he left, she has to decide if she can forgive him and allow herself to accept the love he's offering.

Great Book
I have just recently been introduced to Lucy Score books. Getting ready to read Blue Moon #4. If you haven't read any of the books and like romantic comedies, this is the author for you. Also, absolutely love the addition of animals. Believe me, you'll laugh out loud.

The Last Second Chance
I think I want to live in Blue Moon, Lucy Score had sold me. Another well told story that had me laughing, shaking my head and reaching for my tissues. I had a feeling Jax and Joey's story was going to have some heartbreaking moments and it sure did.I loved the cleaning cupboard of truths, it was very clever.
