Definitely a strong magnet
I purchased this so I could mount my cell on the side dash of the car. I followed instructions and it stayed firmly in place. As I was driving, the phone still remained as is. My only complaint which could be my fault from not reading the description fully is that I could not use my phone charger with the magnet plate glued on. A bit of a disappointment because i like using it in my car. I had to permanently remove the magnet plate so I could place the phone on the charger. Note, I have an iPhone.
