This ham needs to be soaked overnight, cooked in oven or pan.

Q: Do I need to boil this or put it in the oven?

This needs to be boiled. Firstly you need to soak it overnight and then drain off the water. Put it in a pot and bring it to the boil for a couple of minutes and then drain off the water again. Finally fill up the pot again and boil (about 40 mins per kilo). For the final boiling what I do is boil it in Coca Cola as it gives the ham a lovely, slightly sweet flavour. If you don’t go through all of these steps the ham will be too salty as it’s triple smoked.

You can cook ham in boiling water for a short period of time The drain. Place ham in roasting pan. Score the surface with shallow diagonal cuts, making diamond shapes; insert cloves into diamonds. Pour pineapple juice over ham. Cover and bake at 200 for 2 hours. Combine brown sugar and reserved (from roasting pan) warm pineapple juice; pour over ham. Arrange pineapple slices and cherries on ham. Bake, uncovered, 30-45 minutes longer or until a thermometer reads 140° and the ham is heated through.
