Body Neutral: A Revolutionary Guide to Overcoming Body Image Issues
J**H
Important book
I think this Jessi Kneeland’s book has very important and essential views and a unique way of looking at how we judge our own bodies and how society judge's bodies. I see so much hurtful body self judgement around me ( myself included) and judgement of others, and Body Neutral gives an eye opening and extremely important take on all of this. I think it’s a must read for women and men alike.I plan to read and reread this book to absorb its information and way of thinking about our own and others bodies. Life would be better if we did.

The best body image issues guide I have read so far
This book is a deeply thoughtful, thorough, social justice oriented about how to navigate body image issues. It is full of kindness towards all of us and gentle challenges to the narrative of body shame we are all immersed in. It deconstructs step by step how we get there and then offers specific, highly actionable steps on how to start to climb out of it. I got several invaluable insights from it. I also appreciate how it doesn’t promise a fast or easy recovery, or a single solution for all. What it offers is all the good questions we need to start to disentangle the confusion inside, and to gain clarity and choice. What an amazing feat, to write this! I have recommended it to several friends and clients already. All the stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!

The print is extremely small
If you want a book that you need a magnifying glass to read this is the one they didn’t have it in a Kindle version or a large print so there was no other way for me to purchase it. I ended up donating it to Goodwill.

Heal your relationship with your body!
Jessi is amazing! After gaining weight I started learning more about body positivity and I really thought it was helping me but I still was obsessed with how I looked and losing weight. Then I found Jessi and body neutrality. I felt before her that I had one last hurdle in life and that was to lose weight and I could not be happy until I did! Again I thought body positivity was helping me accept myself but deep down I had this belief. One time on my favorite holiday, New Year’s Eve I cried because it was another year I had not lost weight. I had though maintained my weight for several years but at the time I didn’t think that was worth celebrating. I had overcome alcoholism, stopped smoking, stopped being in abusive relationships and become settled in a career that highlighted my strengths but again I couldn’t be happy. I learned with Jessi that part of this was because I fit into the self objectifier avatar and my worth/my value was caught up in my looks. Now after working with Jessi and still reading her book, because I can’t get enough of her, I truly have healed my relationship with my body. This doesn’t mean I love my body but we can co exist now and I do my best to be neutral about her and know now I can finally celebrate my successes in life instead of lament not losing weight. Give her a chance, she will change your life!

a lot of money for very little content on very many pages
The book has 400 pages, but after a few pages the author repeats the same thing over and over again until the end of the book. If I could, I would ask for a refund.

Activism
I was really disappointed to discover just a few pages in that the write has decided to include political and activist agenda in what should be a neutral self help book. Body image issues are so difficult I found it to be very distasteful. Returned it and didn’t read further.
