Soldering iron did not heat up enough to melt solder well enough to remove capacitor already on PC board.

This soldering kit has pretty much all you need for small projects. The tip heated up remarkably quickly and was ready for use almost as fast a soldering gun. The supplied accessories help you with both unsoldering components and insulating splices with the included heat shrink tubing. The only accessory supplied that I could not figure out was the small wrench. It did not fit anything in the kit. My only complaint is that the line cord is only about three feet long. You need a work bench with close outlets or an extension cord to use it easily. The fact that the temperature is adjustable allows you to supply enough heat to solder heavier wire that would otherwise not get hot enough with a small iron. The included carrying case stores all the accessories except the rest stand once it has been assembled. The included tips were easy to change and could also be used for projects like wood burning etchings. The low price seems like a bargain to me.

I have never owned a soldering kit before, so I didn't know exactly what to expect. I have at least 10 items that cannot be fixed with industrial glue alone - they need to be soldered. So when I found this kit, I was pleasantly surprised! This soldering kit seems to include everything that you could possibly need, in order to fix your items that need soldering. The carrying case is very nice as well, and fits everything perfectly! I look forward to using this soldering iron to finally fix my broken items!

I haven't used this for soldering but it's included chisel heads have been exactly what I needed for melting and adjusting 3D printed objects in PLA and other filaments. At lowest temperature it runs just a little hotter than needed to smooth over and repair PLA prints. Hot enough that discoloration is an issue if you aren't painting over your work.This saved a massive print that had a bad seam running across it. Just wish it would go 20-30 degrees lower.

This is a really nice soldering kit and the whole thing is much better than I expected it to be, from the case to the iron itself it's surprisingly well made. Has pretty much everything you need to get started doing some basic soldering. Nifty kit for beginners. Has about everything you might need.HOWEVER, the handle gets HOT at the junction of the handle and tool deslite the insulation and ring for holding. And I had set the tip heat only halfway up. At full heat I doubt I could hold it comfortably enough to do fine work.

I ordered this ILIBILIB Soldering Iron Kit to have it available for guitar repairs. I’ve worked in the manufacture of printed circuit boards, and computers, and I was a unix systems administrator for most of my career. My grandfather taught me how to solder many years ago, but I haven’t done any since, even with all my work in electronics. I have friends who’ve done a lot, and they come over to my house to play guitar. I like what I see in the reviews for this soldering iron that say it’s a good set for beginners. At least with this set, I won’t have to say I don’t have a soldering iron in my toolbox if it’s needed for emergency use. Glad to have this well reviewed soldering iron set. My star rating reflects the current average.

I really dislike when I see "Vine Customer Review of Free Product" reviews. Most (if not all) are complete B.S. This is my unfiltered review of this product. I paid for it myself. I did not get it free, nor would I accept a free product to give a good review.I'm an electronics hobbyist with over 40 years of building and fixing circuit boards. For the money, this product has it's uses but they are very limited. The soldering iron is basically junk. It gets very hot and almost impossible to hold. It's very unsafe. The temperature control is a gimmick. It's very flimsy and it gets in the way. I would have preferred an inline power switch on the electrical cord. The solder stand is also very flimsy and unsafe. It's very difficult to keep the iron holder tight onto the stand. This caused my hot iron to fall over. Thank goodness I was using a workbench or this could have been disastrous. I'm now using an older and more more stable stand. The reason I'm not returning this item is because of the accessories. The numerous heat shrink wraps, solder, solder braid, and the suction tool are items I will use on a better soldering iron, however I'm curious as to why a small (and rusted) wrench is included. It doesn't fit anything in this kit.If you're on a tight budget and have a small and easy project this will be good. However please be very careful when handling the iron. You can expect to throw out the iron after a few uses. If you're an experienced hobbyist like me, stay away from this product and get a more expensive and brand name iron like Weller (which is available here on Amazon) and purchase the accessories a la carte.

Great set, comes with different accessories and attachments some of them might be not be use while soldering but good to have it. Comes in a travel case wich make it easier to move it around. The tool it does the job and you can easily adjust the temperature on it. Definitely the kind of tool you need for home use. Particularly like the stand than could be easily dismounted for travel.

Works good for small wire repair

200-450 C soldering iron that is quite capable and works as advertised. It's good enough to fix many household elecrical issues (for a non-handy person this amounts to fixing RC and other toys to reconnect lose wires etc.) It can be used very safely, comes with a safe holder and a few accessories. For a soldering noob as myself, I found it to be useful and I was not overwhelmed with a crazy amount of features that I wouldn't know how to use. It heats up surprisingly fast. Within seconds, the iron part was untouchably warm. Even though I'm not a pro at soldering (although someday I may become one after using these inexpensive ones for a while), I find the construction to be of low quality. For the type of device that it is, I think it can be expected to be thrown around and bumped around from time to time (of course when not in use for a while!). However, I'd say excessive abuse of this device would certainly cause it to fail. The temperature control feels like a flimsy plastic gauge that could break from misuse. For a new user of soldering iron, and someone with gentle but careful hands, this device could last a long time. So, I think for the soldering noob use case, this is a perfect device. It also comes in a nice pouch, making it easy and safe to carry, and tidy up after use.

I've been using this to repair my sons toys as he breaks them, happy this set comes with most of everything you will need.comes in a nice case, solid quality, and tons of parts.my only complaint is that it didn't come with any instructions, part info, or tips for beginners, as this is my first soldering kit I had to do a bunch of googling and youtube videos to learn to use this properly and safely and what each part is for.
