Revell RMX-3705 Gemini Space Capsule 60th Anniversary Edition 1:24 Scale 93-Piece Model Building Kit, 12 Years Old and up

This build is inaccurate and is based on some early pictures of the capule, not anything that went in space. You will need to buy the aftermarket RealSpace set, which also is a resin kit and sucks because it requires massive skill to keep it from looking like crap since it is hard to fit the pieces. I had to buy a second kit after messing up (user error). part #18 was missing from both kits! If you want to make a specific Gemini mission, good luck, even the aftermarket kit wont get you there, you might need to scratch build too. The astronauts are missing some detail in the helmet. The colors in the instructions are often wrong, the astronauts are not silver, for example. I just threw my hands up and made a Frankenstein Gemini capsule which is s kind of composite of various missions. I.e. if you want to pose them for the EVA (spacewalk) you have to do Gemini 4,9,12 which have specific noses. I used the nose from later missions which is still crap, but better than the Revell nose which still has the faring on it! There should not be a faring on the nose after orbit was established, and was white btw not black. The RealSpace kit is useful for the nose and gold foil on the back which the Revell kit has keft open which is not how it ever looked, it was always covered with a thermal protection. Lots of little pieces that attached to the outside are confusing and incorrect. Only the left door opened in space, the right door (pilot) never opened. Decals dont conform on the instruments panel, there are bumps in the mold that dont sit under the dial decal etc. Don't even try to make it work. Use lots of Microsol for the decals. Ugh. Have fun tho!!!

Was a good model to builder only issue I had was it seemed that the collar ring that goes between the capsule and the nose cone had warped and didn’t fit flush so I had to warp in back and use dissolved putty to patch it

This is a re-released older kit. It has some fit and flash issues found in older kits. It is pretty big but lacks some interior capsule details that would be nice to have given the size. It was fun to build and the exterior looks very nice. It also comes apart into 3 pieces which is nice for viewing the internal systems in the retro and equipment modules. If you are a NASA fan then it is a must have kit.

What memories this brings back of my Dad and me building this in the 1960's! It has not changed being 93 parts in white and a few in clear (visors and windows. The decals can be enhanced with after market ones if you like. OOB the model is great as is and is often in and out of production, get this one while you can. The plastic is a little soft but the old molds are apparent too. Strongly recommend the Real Space upgrade set and Agena docking target in 1/24 too. in 1/24. Strongly recommended for newbies and old hands too.
