I can dig it!
My Gold Mine is a push your luck game that has you and up to five other friends (or rival dwarves) mining for gold. The only problem is that there is a dragon who doesn't appreciate you lot wrecking his home and creating quite a bit of a racket. The game is very simple and super fast to teach even to people who don't play board or card games, its great for adults and kids alike. You all start off together in a mine cart in the middle while the threat of the dragon looms just on the edge. Each player then takes it turn to draw a card from one of two piles, the mining deck or the exit deck. The mining deck allows you to gain the gold to help you win the game but it comes with rewards and also risks. A mining card may give you gold or maybe some gold AND also help push you towards the exit to keep you safe. Or it may reward you with more gold but push you closer towards the dragon. Or you can pull a dragon card and watch as it moves closer to you all while burning the mine around it in a fit of rage for the damage you're doing to its home. The exit deck however allows you to forsake the gold for a moment and help push yourself further from the dragon as you run towards the exit. The exit deck also has its own choices to make, do you move yourself further from the dragon or push everyone towards the exit? How about swapping places with someone so that they are now inches from the dragon while you now get to breathe a sigh of relief for a moment and get back to what's most important, digging gold. OR could you possibly be tempted by gaining some gold instead of taking the exit option?Once you have enough gold or you think the dragon is in a particularly bad mood this round then that is time to make your retreat, while still possibly getting a piece of gold or two along the way. Once everyone has either successfully escaped the mine or found a new home in the dragons belly then the round is over. The game consists of three rounds with a slightly different scoring system for the third round which makes everyone mine just that little bit more if possible. The game has a rhythm to it as people draw cards that in a way really feels like you are all mining for gold and it brings a great sense of timing to the game which makes you feel like a dwarf out for gold and danger.I love everything about this game, the simplicity is there but there is also depth to it and lots of strategic choices to make which can also be hilarious as you sacrifice friends by switching places then watch as their lives are now in the hands of the other players around the board and the fear of drawing another dragon card which will move the dragon along and devour them.I love the artwork and watching the cards get flipped as the dragon moves along the mine and burns the place around it makes you feel the tension building and the time ticking down. For a small box game it has great quality, from its magnetic lock box to its pieces of gold nuggets as round rewards and again the quality of the artwork and for it's price it really is hard to beat. The game can be finished in around 15-25 minutes depending on the size of the group, it plays well in two player and also has a mode variant which is fun in its own way and brings different levels of strategy to the game again. It's a perfect little box game to end a game night on after playing a heavier, larger game yet it has enough in it to rival some of those games. And you will probably want to play a few (lots) more games of it after you're finished.I could go on and on about this game but I don't want to drag-on.Buy this game!

Brilliant accessible game with very tactile pieces
A push your luck game there are only two actions you can take each turn, it is very easy to grasp and the gold tokens are gorgeous. My kids 9 and 12 loved it and so have friends children from about 6 up. It’s fast and not tiresome as a parent and drinking compatible.
