This travel umbrella is very sturdy and seems that it would hold up well to wind and rain. When open, it is the size of a full size umbrella. We haven’t had rain yet so I haven’t tested it in rain, but compared to other umbrellas, I think it will hold up well. I deducted a star because it is very hard to close. It pops right open when you push the button, but closing it is another story. The umbrella part closes when you push the down button but you have to manually push the telescoping handle back down and it is not easy. I would go so far as to say it is hard.As with most umbrellas, the case is one time use. Once you take it out, you will never get it back in. Overall it is a good umbrella to have. I just wish it was a little easier to close. Maybe over time it will loosen up.

I was very happy to receive this product on the first rainy day in weeks. I unsnapped the strap that holds it closed and it immediately broke! The snap was closed so tight that when I attempted to open it, it ripped right through the material. The top metal piece that is sewn into the umbrella material stayed on top of the bottom snap. I used my fingernail to separate the pieces, hoping I could repair it, but with a hole in the material, it wasn't going to happen. OK, fine, I thought, I will just hold it closed and slide it into the included sleeve. Unfortunately, the umbrella is so fat, even when closed, that it is impossible to ever slide into the included sleeve. With the ribs on top, you'd need four hands to get it done. Two to hold the umbrella tightly closed, and two to slide on the sleeve.As far as its use as an umbrella, I was very happy with how easily it opened when I pushed the button. It was so fast! When I pushed the button again, it closed immediately, but it didn't slide down to become travel sized again. I had to push it down to the handle, which wasn't as easy as I wanted it to be. It resisted a bit, like it really wanted to stay long. I tried a couple of times, but it didn't get any easier.I gave it two stars because it does work as an umbrella, and seems pretty durable as far as wind is concerned. But with an immediate rip, lack of small storage capability, and a struggle to close it, I simply can't recommend it.
