A great set for beginners and excellent value for money.
If you have a child who is just starting out with Warhammer, or are a young person with £60 burning a hole in your pocket, this is the set for you. Like predecessor boxed sets, this one comes with 2 basic armies (in this case Dark Angels marines and Chaos Marines) as well as an invaluable A5 sized pocket basic rulebook. The production value is excellent, the simplified assembly ideal for youngsters starting out in modelling and the value incredible. You would pay an awful lot for the individual models, so go on and treat yourself.

Excellent buy
Although this game was around when my sons were younger, my grandson is now into this and wanted to be able to play it with his friend. This box set is an ideal starter kit and works out much cheaper then buying bit by bit.

Good price
For the set, was an excellent price. Huge amount of models to make and paint and you get the rule book, which on it's own is quite a lot of money, so well worth getting this set just for that.

Fantastic quality and fantastic value
I bought Dark Vengeance to get back into 40k almost 15 years after giving it up, so I've been out of the loop for a while (although have read 40k novels and played the video games in that time). My first major praise for this set is the quality of the miniatures, and the detail each model has. The last models I played with were from 2nd Edition and the miniatures have come a long way since then! There's also a great variety of units in this set, aside from the standard tactical squads, so you get a really cool mini army to begin with if it's your first starter set, but also get a nice range of units to add to an existing army for much cheaper than you would if bought separately.I haven't tested the game out yet, and I know some people criticise balancing issues with every rule update, but as far as I'm aware, 40k has always been a strong table top game, with lots of depth but simple enough to get to grips with for beginners, allowing you to skip more advanced rules until you get used to it. Many people have also pointed out that it's worth buying this starter set just for the updated rulebook, as a standalone rulebook will cost quite a lot.Only one feature is missing really, and this is only due to my experience with the 2nd edition starter set from the mid 90's, and that's a lack of terrain, even simple card terrain. With the 2nd edition starter set my brother bought, there were a lot of card walls you could build to set up a nice battleground in almost no time, without needing to purchase any or use bits and pieces of old toys or whatever you have to hand.Overall though, it's great value for everything you do get, and if I'm honest I only bought it to paint them, as I always preferred that to playing the game (personal preference). Highly recommended for newcomers and established players wanted to add a few extra squads to their collection.

Warhammer 40k Dark Vengence
I got this box set last Christmas and I love it. I am a bit biased towards the Chaos Space Marines but I know people with Dark Angels. Both these armies look amazing when they are painted. The Chaos Space Marines and the Dark angels are great starter armies with well balanced stats. Each in the set has its strengths and weaknesses but they are overall quite good.If you have a child who wants to get started with 40k or are a teenager with £60 in your pocket. Go ahead.
