Dirty Dancing (1987) [VHS]

I don't think I am being over dramatic to say that this is film most women place in their top 10 favourite films. The fact when the film was realised the production companies attitude was they made a huge mistake and expected it to flop is now hard to imagine, but many of the executives at the time did not realise there was a sub-plot concerning abortion in the story... one thing the American film industry have always been wary off. So when the figures of how many people where actually coming to the box office and sometimes going again was quite a surprise. And even more so when it was actually the highest grossing films of 1987Obviously since then it has exceeded so much more than just being a popular film; Dirty Dancing has had sequels, soundtracks, stage musicals and even dance competitions and is now considered a classic chick-flick.I think the appeal is the fact 'Baby' is all teenage girls struggling with their identity, along with parental expectation and then meeting the 'bad boy'. Many of the audience is also very familiar with the soundtrack having parents playing that music in their childhood homes but also the end did have a happy ending which any woman secretly yearns for that the 'bad boy' turns in to be their 'hero' at the end of the story. It did truly deserve all the adoration, awards and pure affection and turn Patrick Swazye and Jennifer Grey into stars

This movie seriously takes me back. I think my Mum must have watched it at least 732 times when I was young. It’s ingrained to a level where I think I could almost just close my eyes in a quiet room and watch the film in my mind.Awesome soundtrack too. Hungry Eyes by Eric Carmen, and She’s Like the Wind by the man himself Patrick Swayze are just a few. The entire soundtrack is brilliance.How cool was Swayze though? I think he was the ultimate cool dude myself, and that’s coming from a guy who loves Stallone and Schwarzenegger movies. Brilliant film, brilliant soundtrack. Dirty Dancing is one of those feel good films you can watch over and over and never get bored of it. I love that it gains new fans with every generation, my niece adores it and I enjoyed getting to tell her that her mum once dislocated her knee trying to recreate some of those dance moves when we were kids :)

The dancing, the story and the brilliant acting by all the characters made this film one of the best films of the 20th century in my opinion, hopefully in others opinion too. I have just seen the London cast of Dirty Dancing who are on tour which prompted me to buy the disc, which means now I can watch the film whenever I want to, bliss.

Is this already not one of the best films ever made? I genuinely thought that everyone had seen it until I brought this up to my grandmother and she shockingly told me that she hadn’t seen it so I got on amazon right away & ordered this for her! Everything about this film is great - the storyline, the acting & the dancing! It’s just fantastic. I bought this as a gift so I’ll need to wait and see what she thinks of it but for me this film is more than worth the watch. If you haven’t already seen it, where have you been?

Still love this movie after all these years. Patrick Swayze was a wonderful actor and dancer, I could watch his dancing for ever and never get tired of it! And Jennifer Grey was perfect for the part of Baby, an amazing actress, she played that part so well, exactly how a young girl would act when she's fallen in love with a gorgeous guy. And he falls for her generous and selfless 💓 heart. 😄

A great Movie. A rich family go to a holiday camp for the summer and the daughter becomes involved with one of the staff. A movie that shows things from both the guests and the people that entertain them.Great soundtrack and some wicked dancing, definitely worth watching.

Bought this a few years ago and it went up on the shelf to replace an existing damaged copy, its been a few years but I finally use it for the first time only to find its just as damaged and wont play, seller has my money and ive have another coaster. yay
