Model Railway Planning and Design Handbook

The book is probably most useful for beginners and is very well illustrated with a number of differing layouts for beginners, exhibitions layouts and layout themes (industrial and various others) and includes a section about the design process. The photographs of some of the actual finished layouts are very good and helpful for me as a beginner and I have mostly used this book for inspiration for my own layout rather than follow any one particular design.

It was more about intricate modelling of landscapes whereas I needed more practical advice on setting out track and wiring and controls. Interesting but far more advanced than I needed.

Lots of plans in complete to build form and just to give you ideas. I liked the artwork that gives you a real idea of what the model will look like.Lots of colour pictures of layouts too all to give ideas and inspiration.I was very pleased I bought this book.
