Love, love, love this hilarious story about Granny and her grandson!
Although this story is filled with wit and humor, it teaches a valuable lesson of appreciation.Granny is quite interesting and reveals another side to her grandson who is initially bored with her.

Fun for kids!
I am reading this aloud to my 7 & 9 year old and they love it. Author is good at hooking you at the end of every chapter so they always want to hear more. The writing is simple enough that either of them could be reading it themselves but my narrating is more entertaining lol.

Love this author
Granny tries to make her life more exciting for her grandson. Little does he know what he'll be getting involved in.I howled at this book. When Ben finds out his grandmother was an international jewel thief, he looks at her with new eyes. Then when he gets involved in the biggest heist of all I lost it. Not only his he totally in with the greatest theft of all but poor Ben has raised his parents expectations of wanting to dance ballroom style which is their favorite thing to watch on TV. Ben and Granny are wild as they plan and execute those plans. They have no idea who they will meet and who will aid them with their heist. Then to be almost undone by a nosy neighbor. The narrator is very prevalent through the story with hints and asides that are as funny as the story. You will need a hanky at the end, so be prepared. You also meet Raj who is also in Demon Dentist. I love this author. I cannot wait to pick up another of his books and I know exactly to whom to give this book.

Excellent
Very fun story with some nice underlying messages to take away at the end of the book. We read a few chapters at bedtimes each night and found it difficult to put the book down and have to wait a whole day to see what would happen next.

Great book to share with grandchildren from 8 and up.
This story is a fun look at the relationship between a big and his “boring old Granny!” With typical British humor and fun situations both my grandson (age 9), my granddaughters (age 10 and 11) and I all enjoyed reading this. And it gives everyone an opening to share cross generational stories.

fun and engrossing book
this review is by my 9 year old as this is his buy. it was a good book though the beginning is a bit boring, it has a good plot and it is also funny. if i had to rate it on 10 i would say 9, as in the middle of the book i found a very unclear part.I also don't get a part where the boys grandma gets many fake diamonds. But it was a good book which keeps your eyes glued to it throughout. An example of this is his parents love ballroom dancing but he hates it [i mean the boy] but he acts as if he likes it so that he can go to his grandmas house [he hates her in the beginning] but then his parents sign him up for a ballroom dancing competition where he wears a suit with heart designs all around it and dances like a monkey with his tail on fire. So rounding it of the boy hated his grandma and she tries to make him spend more time with her by doing a great robbery which they cannot fail. A good way to spend a sunday afternoon.

Great reading for a 9 year old.
My son and I absolutely loved this book. It tells the story of a boy who thinks his old Granny is boring with her smelly Cabbage soup and Scrabble play and how their relationship develops throughout the story. The story covers many issues which are sometimes uncomfortable but good learning for children who may otherwise come from great upbringings. One of which is his somewhat dysfunctional parents who are more interested in their obsession with ballroom dancing then their son. Later you see this relationship improve. The other being the relationship between a young child and his grandmother and how age inevitable leads to the topic of dying. The boy dreads Friday nights at Grannys house until one day when trying to get himself a treat from the biscuit tin high on the shelf he discovers it holds diamonds. Granny then makes up stories about her jewel heists. From there you follow the hilarious adventure as the two of them plan an attempt to steal the Crown Jewels. The ending is brilliant and having never cried in a kid’s book before I was pausing many times to gain composure as I read on with my son.
