The Fine Art of Faking It (Blue Moon, 6)

LOVED THIS SECOND CHANCE LOVE STORY!
Lucy Score is a one-click author for me and I was so happy she wrote another story to continue in the town of Blue Moon. The people in this series have become like family and it was great catching up and getting more background into who they are and seeing them interact again. This book isn’t about one of the Pierces, it’s about Davis, who co-owns the local winery with his parents, and Eden, his high school crush, and next door neighbor who is the owner of a bed and breakfast. You don’t have the read the previous five books to enjoy this one, but I recommend that you do because each one has it’s own unique flare and is filled with love, laughter, and lots of shenanigans. This book also perfectly brings back all of the characters that you love from other books in the series, without overshadowing Davis and Eden. The Fine Art of Faking It sounds cliché, and the “let’s pretend we are together” has been done before, but not in Lucy Score fashion. This is a must read if you love romantic comedy. I love Eden and so admire her personal work ambition, her relationship with her friends, and how she is so willing to help others yet remains content on her life the way it is. She had been hurt by Davis when she was a junior in high school and he was a senior and couldn’t let it go after all these years. This isn't healthy and I like the fact that she is able to soften at the end, realize her mistakes and admit that she was wrong. This was not easy because in high school both of their parents were sworn enemies and refused to let the two of them speak to one another let alone date, and it continued even though Davis and Eden were now in their 30s. The feud wasn’t even their parents…it was from previous generations and it was hilarious to read the interpretation over the years of what actually went down, especially the last chapter! What a nice surprise.Davis is not only hot and handsome, but smart, educated, sincere, thoughtful, easy going, and generally just a nice guy. He and Eden hadn’t seen each other in 15 years as he went off to college and then stayed to learn the wine business, and when they meet again you could feel their insane attraction and pull toward one another. You need to read the book to find out how their relationship progresses and how they tried to outsmart the Beautification Committee (a hilarious group of nosy townspeople whose main goal is to form romantic matches) by pretending to be together so they could break up later.I just love second chance love stories and this one has all the feels and you route for them the entire time. I especially liked how they took their time to get to know one another as adults and how they spent time talking about their work day, cooking, and going on dates. Eden realizes she needs to let go of her anger and fear, and Davis realizes the mistakes he made, both in his personal and work life by not standing up for himself, and that is when they learn they could both forgive and forget and focus on their future. They were both young when they had the misunderstanding and realize they aren’t going to let their parents get in the way of their very happy ending!

Sweet, sarcastic, and just the right level of sauce
A take on your classic enemies-to-lovers trope that involves familiar characters and introduces a swoony Davis Gates. I’d read it again just for him alone. It’s a quick, light-hearted read that includes quips, quarrels and quality writing.

Blue Moon just gets better and better!
Rating - All the StarsWhen you get to book six (or seven if we count the prequel) in a series, you think you know what to expect. Well, this book just goes to show that you should expect the unexpected when it comes to Lucy Score and Blue Moon. Don’t get me wrong, it is still very much the same Blue Moon with its Beautification Committee, hippies, and characters we have grown to love. However, this book is a bit more removed from the Pierce family than the rest of the series has been, and it helped me see Blue Moon from a different angle. I fell in love all over again.Eden and Davis are fantastic characters. I love absolutely everything about them. This book begins with a look at them in high school and the missed opportunity at a relationship that created the animosity that exists between these characters today. I loved getting a look back to see not only them, but so many of our favorite Mooners when they were younger. The beginning of their story was heartbreaking as it not only shaped their relationship, but gave so much insight on why they are the people they have grown to be today. While both characters transform throughout this story, I felt every ounce of Eden’s transformation. After making one mistake as a heartbroken teen, she works so hard to prove to everyone that she is better than that one defining moment, but really, it seems she needs to prove it to herself. I fell hard for Eden. Total girl crush. She is hardworking, sincere, loyal, and so thoughtful. She is the kind of girl I want to be besties with. Watching her transform throughout this story in order to accept and go after what she truly wants made my heart happy. And Davis. He is such a good guy through and through. He makes some bad choices because he is such a people pleaser, but he truly strives to be what everyone needs. Not only does he try to make everyone happy, he is also the guy who volunteers to help new families adjust to life in Blue Moon. The guy who gets caught up in romance. The guy who is willing to see through what others think to who people truly are. I loved watching him transform into the man who knows what he wants and works to make it happen. I loved that Eden brought out a confidence he didn’t even know he possessed to really become that man. When they were together, it was as if nothing else mattered. Their connection went beyond everything that happened in the past, and what others expected of them to the amazing possibilities of what could be should that spark be ignited. And in true Blue Moon fashion, this book was hilarious. It wasn’t over-the-top crazy like Holding on to Chaos and the astrological apocalypse, but the characters are just as funny as ever! It wouldn’t be Blue Moon without shenanigans. From the family feud to an epic mistake that threatens to have half the town arrested, Blue Moon is still Blue Moon. We also get a lot of insight to the Beautification Committee in this book, and I loved it! While this book isn’t Pierce Family centered, we do check in with and get updates on all of our favorite Blue Moon characters. This story is one you don’t want to miss. It is a story of redemption. It is a story of embracing life and what you want regardless of what others think. It is a story of second chances. It will take you from laughing to longing to a truly happily-ever-after. I have been a fan of Blue Moon from the start, but this may just be my new favorite.

A feel-good story
Like all of the books in this series, ‘Faking It’ is a pleasant read with likable characters, plenty of humor, quick pacing, and a solid HEA. I wasn’t thrilled with the fake boyfriend/girlfriend trope, but the author made it work in a reasonably satisfying way.Bottom line: Lucy Score writes feel-good books and in this increasingly sad and scary world, a little happy escape is a good thing.

Meh…
Lucy Score wrote a fairly okay book here. The problem with it for me was that, compared to the first five books that centered around the Pierce family and their close friend, Donovan, the characters were not well developed. They may have had a mention in previous Blue Moon novels, but not enough for readers to feel like they knew the characters. Not enough to be emotionally invested in their story. It felt two dimensional and flat. I just didn’t enjoy it like I had the first five books in the series. It’s the first Score novel that I feel was a true waste of my time reading. Now I truly hesitate to read another Blue Moon book. Maybe she should have stopped after book five.

Haters to lovers? Yes please!
One of my favorite things! Haters to lovers! The antics, banter and secrets this book has is amazing! As this is my second(definitely not last) read through this series I seemed to pick up on things I missed last time. Blue Moon is definitely my favorite series ever! It makes me laugh out loud, cry and a great palate cleanser from my darker reads.

A big love story from my favourite small town.
I absolutely wish the town of Blue Moon existed in reality. The townsfolk are such a joy to read. The beautification committee are hysterical in their pursuit of matching town singles with each other.Whenever I feel life is getting heavy, I know that I can escape to Blue Moon and allow the story to restore my good mood. These books truly are the definition of feel good. This sixth book introduces us to Eden and Davis, once almost high school sweetheats, now turned adult enemies. The heroine, Eden Moody is a genuinely kind. She tries so hard to be a good neighbour and friend that she has neglected her love life. Davis is the one who got away, due to a feud between the two families that began long before they fell for each other in high school.Davis is totally swoony and really proves himself to be the boy Eden imagined him to be back in high school. The two of them together are fabulous, they deserve a fitting hea full of happiness. The story itself is typically Blue Moon, full of antics and shenanigans on the way towards the happy ending.Long may Lucy continue to revisit Blue Moon and give us these fun filled love stories. 💜

The Fine Art of Faking It
The last book read for 2023 and I'm glad it was one that made smile with the antics of the residents of Blue Moon. Two families that were horrible people and the son and daughter who turned out relatively normal, well as normal as one would expect from this series. I loved the bonus at the end with how the feud actually started.
