Terrible audio range, not very good audio quality even on digital audio
I hooked this up to my home system via the digital coax cable (the yellow one) and despite being a digital signal, and despite my system sounds amazing on my Chromecast, PS4, computer, etc somehow this Bluetooth receiver managed to make it sound no better than my phones loudspeaker. I've tried this receiver with an iPhone 6s and a Google pixel, both of which have no problems putting out good sound on other Bluetooth audio devices (car radios, Bluetooth headsets, etc). Also, if it's not used for 5 minutes it can't be connected to without unplugging the power for 10 seconds and plugging it back in (this works 9 out of 10 times, and only after 10 seconds, no sooner for some reason) of there's some settings that I'm missing or an app to control it specifically let me know and I'll update the review, because the included manual is absolutely no help.

Beware on High End Setups
I got this for a fairly high end stereo setup and could immediately notice a drop in sound quality. It seemed very obvious, but perhaps wouldn't be on a lower end system. I can't conclude that it is the devices fault just yet, would have to hear stories from others with higher end gear but if you are looking for sound rivaling manual connections you may be out of luck here.

No power switch and turns itself off after it looses the connection. The only way to re-connect is to unplug power cable. Sound is also very muted and not the full sound frequencies of the music. For instance no bass

... if you want to bluetooth the sound from your smart phone, Firestick
This item is the trick if you want to bluetooth the sound from your smart phone, Firestick, Roku Player etc to your home stereo system. The issue I had was utilizing current surround system for projector in family room. Running cable was not an option. Connected the optical input from Onkyo Receiver to the Bluetooth Wireless Receiver optical out. Also has Digital Coaxial out and 3.5 Analogue ( cable included) The set up was a snap and in seconds was streaming the sound from the Firestick to the surround system.

Great features, great sound - on updated version.
UPDATEI originally gave this 4 stars because the features were great, but the sound was terrible. I mean AWFUL. The maker sent me a new version and it is great! It like exactly the same, and has the same features, but the audio quality is now excellent! I done know what they did, but they finally got it really right. This is a very easy to use device with 3 connection options. But the sound quality is terrible!I saw the price and almost passed it by as too good to be true, but the reviews seemed positive, so I bought two - one for each stereo system in my home. I wanted a device with digital outputs, hoping for the highest quality sound so that the digital to analog conversion would occur in my high-end stereo gear, rather than I cheap little device. The setup and connection was easy. I used optical cable from the device into my receiver. and paired the device simply. But when I played music through, it was noticeably bad. Really bad! There was no bass at all, and what there was was really muddy. I thought maybe I had a bad connection or the optical cables were cheap, so I tried the RCA output. Still awful.I switched it to a similar device from Amazon Basics that I had at work (no, I do not work for them nor get any kickback for this) and the sound was beautiful. So it was not my receiver, nor my cable. It is this unit. I had ordered two units, so I tried the second. Sounded just as bad. I sent them back to Amazon and ordered two of the Amazon Basics, which sound great, despite having only analog RCA outputs. Two stars for price and ease of use, but if you really want good sound, you need to buy another unit.

poor quality sound
Sorry, this purchase was a joke....on me. Product arrived appearing scuffed and I thought it was a returned product upon opening for that reason. It connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth very easily. However, the sound quality out of my relatively high end system was VERY poor. Virtually no bass, little midrange. When I plugged the same phone directly into the RCA jacks of my preamp, the music sound was full and excellent as usual. Beware, unless you want phone-quality sound coming out of your home stereo or entertainment system, steer clear of this one. BTW, I connected initially through the SPDIF out jack, then through the "headphone" jack into RCA inputs. Neither worked well. I did not try the optical output. As indicated above, the phone worked fine plugged directly into the preamp. I really prefer the preamp driven by the s/pdif input because the sound is better. In this case, it was unacceptable. TGFAP (thank god for amazon prime)
