They said it wouldn't work
Okay, I'm a sucker for sad stories. Please bear with me. #1. I have acquired a new set of hearing aids. They are super "high speed." They even came with "TV ears." Alas, my TV only has one optical output and I could not find any other audio out put. I called a friend who is tech savvy and asked if there was such a thing as an optical connector that would allow 2 devices to work off one output. (commonly known as a split er.) While waiting for the delivery I happened into Staples. Seeing the geeks I thought why not and asked if they had or sold optical split ers. They all looked to one guy who said, "no, and it wouldn't work." Nervous though I was, I connected the one input from the split er to the one output on the TV. Connected the sound bar to one of the split er outputs, SOUND! The other to my hearing aid TV ears. Carefully followed those instructions and SOUND! Yes, the optical split er does work.

Handy basic optical audio Y-splitter
A very handy affordable adapter that does exactly what it says in the description, which can be confusing as itโs very poorly written. However it repeatedly says and shows this can only split a single input to 2 outputs, but not the other way around with a simple prism to split the laser in 2. Use it to connect 2 amps from 1 source, or 2 sources into a single amp but only 1 source can be used at a time. A proper signal coupler requires discrete processing which is obviously more expensive, only in this regard itโs just more convenient than repeatedly unplugging cables. Worked great for hooking up my new flatscreen to both my soundbar and older pioneer receiver to be used simultaneously. However I did notice a slight audio delay depending on the settings which also happened previously while wired differently without the splitter.

PS4 Headset and sounder issue solved
I have a day 1 ps4 and only one optical port. This splitter allows me to now plug and use my headset and sound bar via optical cable. I gave this 4 stars because the grip of the connection could be stronger. A small amount of pull will pop the cable from the splitter. My set up is not touched and this has not been an issue but I can imagine how it may be for some. Great value!

Works, but precariously.
I got this device to split my optical audio between a Bluetooth transmitter and nearby speakers so I could easily swap to headphones when family is asleep. This device works as advertised, and the quality is fine (can't really degrade digital signal quality anyways), but you have to make sure things are plugged in a manner that gravity won't loosen them over time. The connectors are very "loose" and you have to make sure the cables are seated very firmly or they'll come loose and won't work anymore.

Please read the product description before purchasing to fully understand its intended function!
I ordered this product so that I could connect the optical digital inputs on both my soundbar and stereo system to my Blu-ray player, which only has one optical digital output, and I made sure to read the product description before purchasing to make sure that the item would function as intended. I haven't tried using both components at the same time, so I can't comment on any sound problems that might result from doing so, but the sound quality from each component by itself is outstanding, and I no longer have to switch the cable from my Blu-ray player between my soundbar and my stereo system, depending on which component I wish to use. Thus, I've given this product my highest overall rating, and I recommend it without reservation to those who are also willing to take the time to fully understand its intended function before purchasing it ...

Product ok
The fitting into the tv seems loose and if moved around effects the sound. It doesn't seem to fit tightly and of the same finish of the connector that came with the sound bar.

Super Simple 1 fiber optic (Toslink) Input to 2 fiber optic (Toslink) Outputs Splitter
I bought this adapter to split the optical audio output from the tv to send it to the audio amplifier and a bluetooth audio transmitter for my hearing aids. Not only was it simple to hook up but there is no power to worry about and no settings to change. I hooked up the builtin fiber optic cable from the splitter to the tv output and then plugged in two fiber optic cables (purchased separately) into the splitter and ran one to the amplifier and the other to the bluetooth audio transmitter. It was that simple. This device is used if you need to send the one audio signal to two devices not two inputs to one output. There is no switch.I actually have one of these in my house and one in my sisters' house - both of which are working very well.

Hey, surprise, it works.
This seems to work fine, pleasantly surprised. My tv only has this optical audio output. My husband wanted to have a soundbar, and a headset. Long story short was I needed this splitter to make that happen and avoid latency. The soundbar does have bluetooth input, but that causes a synch issue, which is really annoying. I looked for an optical splitter at an electronics store, it had some kind of signal amplification and they wanted $30. I took a chance on this and no problems. I subtracted one star since the connectors, both the male and female were a bit difficult.
