Ideal protector for hard floors and chair legs
These floor protectors are an excellent product intended for use on hard floors. They are easy to fit provided care is taken in the fitting of the black plastic cup. Several reviewers had complained (on Amazon.com) about the heads snapping off the screws but providing the fitting instructions are followed this should not happen. Instructions say it is essential to pre-drill the screw hole 3mm dia to a depth of 3/4" inch (20mm) and screw down the black plastic cup till it just starts to compress. I left the self adhesive pads on as it made drilling the holes easier with the cups in situ. As I had hardwood chair legs I chose to drill the holes 3.2mm dia which adequately gripped the screw without the risk of snapping the head off. The grey plastic slider is then just pushed into the cup with thumb pressure (double click). Gives a more durable and secure fixing than the nail in type, and the chairs slide easily without leaving marks on my tiled floor. It also prevents wear and splintering to the bottom of the chair legs.
