Quality Outstanding—Advertising, not so much
You can really tell the quality of this blanket. It has double stitching, is a good medium weight, and overall a beautiful coloring. Though subjective, it is not too scratchy but is soft and as another reviewer mentioned, about as scratchy as a wool sweater. The smell went away after airing out, but it was not entirely unpleasant. It reminded me of being inside an old barn or farmhouse, a natural smell vs a chemical smell, one I personally liked. It is also quite large, with almost a little too much overhang on the bed. With that said, I purchased the blue stripe color. The advertised photos are terribly misleading, which is a shame for a company with such a quality product. (And strange no one else commented on the difference). Still a beautiful coloring in its own right, the blue stripe color was a HUGE disappointment to what I was expecting. I then purchased the gray plaid, hoping it would be a better match to the color scheme I had in mind, and it was worse. The gray plaid had a yellow washed out tint look to it. It also was of a different quality, a MUCH lighter weight blanket, softer, with no smell, which makes me wonder if it was the correct wool blend it was supposed to be. Maybe it was defective, or a knockoff. It definitely was not the same kind of blanket as the blue stripe one I received, and not worth the price. I ended up keeping the blue stripe, even though I am still disappointed in the color. Don’t get me wrong, the color is beautiful, but I was really hoping for the look in the advertised photos. For the price point, provided you receive a blanket of the same quality as the blue stripe blanket I received, this is an amazing high quality wool blanket, one that is washable, with no pilling or shedding problems, and no overpowering chemical smell that the cheaper wool blankets have. Though I would definitely recommend this blanket, just be mindful of the advertised coloring issue and the possibility of a random (or not) quality control problem.

For the price it is very good.
For the price and versitility it is a very nice blanket. Nice but not as interesting as a Pendelton. I washed it when I got it not because it needed to but just as that is what I do. Partial dryer then line dry. It is a little scratchy as I expected with a wool blanket, of course sheets take care of that. King size fits well on my Cal King bed with extra length which I fold over a foot or so on the top. Cat likes to snuggle into that fold. I use it with an electric blanket under it which I may have on lowest setting. House drops to about 58F degrees at night. Medium weight and expect it to be good by itself as the weather warms. Summer time was a good weight, except when truly hot. When I touch it with my hand or lay on it with bare legs, it is not too itchy, but stiff fibers poke through my super soft bamboo sheets and are prickly on the underside of my arms. I took off one star because of that from 5 to 4.

Superb quality in an old fashioned blanket!
I travel a lot for work and stay overnight. Most of the hotels these days have embraced the duvet/coverlet/tick concept which is great if the room is cold, but for me most of them are too hot. Fortunately some of the hotels also provide old fashioned blankets, mostly velux which I prefer. At home we use a fitted sheet set on our bed along with a cotton blanket in the summer, and a cotton blanket and another wool blanket in the winter. Having layers allows us to throw off the top blanket if it gets too warm. Our old wool blanket had seen years of use and needed to be replaced, so we took to Amazon and found this heavyweight blanket. Many of the wool blankets we looked at in local stores were either much more expensive, or they were too small to fit our king bed, or both. This one had larger dimensions than most that we looked at.We were amazed at the quality of this blanket! It is a fairly heavy blanket with a tight weave. Any wool blanket will be scratchier than cotton or poly, but we felt this one was pretty soft and have not had a problem with it at all. We did run it through the wash a couple of times on cold with some Woolite and line dried it to take some of the stiffness out of it. That seemed to work and I would recommend doing so if you buy this. As for the blanket itself, it is warm and beautiful! We expect that it will last many years and I would recommend it.

Affordable, High-Quality Woolen Blanket - Misleading Color Ad Photos
This is a very high quality blanket. It's heavy, the weaving is very tight and the stitching along the edges is clean. It's also obviously wool - it's the right sort of scratchy and has a little bit of an odor when you take it out of the shipping bag. It's not offensive, and is normal in new woolen items. You'll need to use this blanket with some cotton sheets as it is a bit scratchy - again, normal for most wool. This blanket reminds me of the sort I might find in my grandparents' house and I like that about it.I docked this item one star because I feel that the advertising photos pretty grossly misrepresent the colors. The brown stripe in the yellow stripe pattern blanket is very desaturated in life, tending more toward a much lighter value tan color. In the advertising photos it appears to be a rich, dark burnt umber brown. The other colors, while also somewhat desaturated, are pretty similar to the photos. It's a handsome blanket as is, but I do wish the photos were a bit more honest about the dye as I was keen on the advertised pattern. I'm keeping the blanket as I have wanted an affordable king-sized wool blanket for a while and this fits the bill. I have a taller queen mattress and there's plenty of material left over on the sides to tuck the edges when making the bed. I've attached a couple of photos so folks can make a more informed decision.

Great Balnket
Great Quality. I have to get use to the wool being a little rougher than a regular comforter but worth the money and change.
