Great toy for my pup!
I got this for my German shepherd pup. This is perfect for getting him to slow down while eating. It is great for making him think about how to get the food out.

Great dog toy!
I wedge some treats in the different openings and it takes my dog a while to get them out. He bounces it all around and plays with it trying to get them out. It keeps him busy for a while. We have been buying these for him since he was a puppy and he is now 4. I like it better than a Kong toy because with a Kong you have to put peanut butter or something similar in order to keep the treats from falling out and you can only give your dog so much peanut butter. With the Barnacle I buy healthy/natural dog treats and my dog can have it twice a day. I wish they lasted a little longer, but that is my only complaint.

Not durable for my super chewer! But a great feeder otherwise!
I am aware that my dog is a destructive, super-chewer but I had hopes after reading other reviews. This is what he did on the first use. He happens to live it through! It was recommended by his trainer and he played with the light lavender one at her site. So I DO recommend it in general, for most dogs, but take your chances if your dog is descrutive. Also, we can get use put of the other 2 bubbles on this barnacle. Dog is 16mo, (adopted from shelter at 11 mo.) male, neutered, 46lbs, some sort of Shepard/boxer/bully mix...

My dog LOVES this toy!
So, Abbi Gail LOVES this toy so much. She loves it so very, very much that she will NOT eat her dry dog food out of anything else since I bought this for her. She will ONLY eat her dry dog food out of this toy, and watching her use her foot to move this toy all over the living room floor to get every little piece of food out of it is adorable. We don't put food in the tiniest part of the toy because food doesn't really come out of it, but I think that's more along the lines of the dry dog food being a bit too big, so maybe if you used smaller food and/or small treats in the smallest part of the toy, that wouldn't be an issue.

Great toy for the pup but why does it smell so awful!?
It's a great toy to keep the pup entertained, I use her normal mealtime kibble to stuff it and she goes ham trying to get it all out. For some reason the toy is very strongly scented of this artificial vanilla kind of smell? Like, I can smell it across the room. I've washed it multiple times but the scent has not faded AT ALL. It bothers the heck out of me but my canine kid doesn't mind at all and that's what's important. If the toy itself endures as long as the smell does, I'll consider it a very worthwhile purchase.

3.5 Stars -- Sturdy but Limited
I got the Barnacle toy in size Large for my ~45 lb mutt. She enjoys food toys, and I wanted to find one sturdy enough that I felt safe leaving her with when I left for work since she tends to destroy her toys quickly.First thing -- there's no way any dog is going to be able to destroy this. The "rubber" is super thick and a good balance of flexible and sturdy, so she can't do her favorite "pick at a weak edge and slowly disembowel it" trick. I've had it for a couple months now and it looks brand new. However, it isn't great for feeding her kibble. She eats 1 cup at morning and at night, and none of the compartments fits that comfortably. I don't really feel like dividing her food into 3 portions every day to split it between either. The bigger problem is the hole size, or rather the ratio of kibble-to-hole size. The holes are very big with rubber "fingers" inside to slow the food spill. I've still found that it tends to dump a fistful of kibble all at once, or not let anything go for a long time. This may have to do with my dog's "technique", as described below.Another problem is that since this has three separate chambers, this toy is not hollow and is surprisingly heavy. While my dog has no problems throwing a kong around (and I mean THROWING a kong around), the weight and asymmetrical shape makes it difficult to throw or roll, which is my dog's preferred way to use a food toy. This toy works best when a dog slaps it with her paws or picks it up and drops it, which may be why my dog gets frustrated with getting her food from it.What this toy is really great for, for us, is high value treats. If I am leaving at an unusual time and anticipate that she's going to fuss, I can put "the good stuff" in this toy and then she doesn't mind the struggle at all! The different size chambers make this especially nice if I'm breaking up odd sized or home made treats and want her to stay busy for a while. Since it's so sturdy, she can chew on it all she wants, but she has to do the work to get the treats. All in all-- this toy isn't great for my dog's daily feedings, but it's great for high value treats and a change of pace.

Excellent amusement toy for dog
The toy itself has a strong perfume like smell but does not seem to affect the dog. There is a cluster of three chambers where treats can be put. It is made from a very strong rubbery stuff and very robust should last very well. Since buying this toy my dog has enjoyed hours playing with it. Definitely a toy to keep amused recommended.

Good dog toy but pick the right size
My dog Barkie is a Standard Poodle so he is either a large medium or a small large dog. Choose the size of the toy carefully, we chose the large one when I think that the medium size would have done him too.Within two sessions he figured out that if he drops the toy whilst standing the kibble that is in the toy will spill out from the larger of the 3 reservoirs. LOL He loves it as the kibble skitters across the floor, which makes him hunt for the treats/food. A bit larger sized kibble than the one he has most likely wouldn't spill out as much.IMHO the down side of the toy is having to clip the plastic fingers at the opening to allow kibble to be dispensed. It is a one way process get it wrong and it will either spill out or not come out at all. Upside is that it is a softer plastic than some of his puzzle feeders so it is less noisy when he drops it or shoves it down the stairs. HOWEVER the instructions do point that out (for those that read instructions), so it shouldn't be a surprise. I recommend this toy

Great for thin strips of jerky or tiny treats.
Bought their small size.I have an 11-lbs Shih Tzu that eats very tiny kibbles. I don’t quite recommend using the largest of the round compartments for little kibbles because these little ones will only very easily spill out of the toy-dispenser. Not recommending this for that purpose especially if you’re trying to manage your dog’s weight. However, having bought this particular size (small), I’d highly recommend this product for strips of thinly-sliced treats such as jerkies or small and thin morsels (break little cubes into tinier pieces, otherwise your dog might have a very difficult time taking the treats out. Check compartments frequently to make sure if any left-overs are still good for your dog to eat, or not).Their “small” will obviously not be as compatible for larger-size kibble, like the kibble we use for a Great Dane, or a similar breed (Out of curiosity, I put in some large kibble into the toy-dispenser and it was almost impossible to get them out). See photos. This product has some good weight to it but it is not too heavy that our small dog cannot flip or lift it.Fast delivery (two business days) to B.C.

Keeps the dog busy
The only thing is that the little flaps in the hole to hold the treats inside work too well - nothing comes out and my poor dog gets exasperated! I had to cut off the flaps. It’s still work for him to get to the treats but at least he gets a reward.

Oddly a great treat toy.
My dogs play with this treat toy for hours. The tabs are difficult to cut and when they are cut, there is not a perfect size for the treats to dispense. The rollypolly design is very clever and keeps my dogs happy for hours.
