They are nice
These are pretty and slightly shiny black river rocks. I got them because I wanted to paint them and use them in jewelry as they are the perfect size for that. My complaint for them is they appear to be coated with a black color and when I wiped them with an alcohol pad to prep them for painting the shiny black wiped off and left them a matte finish. I would be concerned to use them in a tank with water and animals because I’m not sure what they are coated with.I’ll try again to wash them off in water and will come back to update the review if I need to do so. Beware that 5 or 10 pounds of rocks isn’t as much as you’d think. These shipped just loose in the cardboard box. They aren’t bagged up so be careful when opening them. I will likely end up using these in my plants after all.

As ordered, but be careful when opening
This was the size and amount I expected when ordering. Be careful when opening because the rocks are jus packed loose in the box, not in a bag or any other type of enclosure. Some of the color did come off on my hands as well, but not too much. Good amount for a small aquarium.

Great for accenting an aquarium bottom
I requested the SANGFOR 5 Pounds River Rocks for Plants to be employed as accent rocks on the surface of a beige sand substrate in an aquarium I was setting up. Unfortunately, our juvenile Albino Oscar, named Al, died overnight. And, without the need now for the additional space a 125-gallon tank would provide our remaining juvenile Tiger Oscar, I just don't have the interest or motivation to build the larger tank anymore. The rocks would have looked spectacular, though, as the "polished" look has just enough polish to provide a nice visual textural and color contrast up against the beige sand. Be aware that the "polish" is NOT your typical glassy-stone finish. It actually has somewhat of a polished matte, if you will. However, I would not invest the money that these rocks apparently can command to create a solid 2 to 3-inch substrate in a larger tank. Lastly, the rocks received are not uniformly sized, so be aware that you will receive, upon purchase, a mixture of sizes that (if true to my experience) will range from about 3/8-inch to 1-inch widths and all are about 1/4-inch in thickness. If it weren't for the price point, I'd have given a 5-star rating.

Shiny!
I like to use stones for drain pipe water runoff but found it’s often useful in potted plants. This box of stones were pretty weighty and substantial. They are also shiny. I’m using them for my drain runoff.

Be aware of how little 10 pounds really is (see details). Conditionally Recommended
SANGFOR River Rocks (0.4" - 0.6" Pebbles, 10 Pounds) appear to be black rocks that have been tumbled industrially. The size range and surface finish are appropriate for a large number of aesthetic applications. $30 seems to be a lot, until you think about the portion that shipping accounts for in the price. Still, 10 pounds is not a lot when you're talking about rocks - with the package being about 8"x8"x3". If you need a lot of rocks, you should probably try to source them locally. If this amount and price work for you, you will be happy with the Sangfor rocks. Conditionally Recommended

Good top dressing for Succulents and Cacti
I have purchased so many hoses over the last three years. When I first bought this house I bought the standard ones. But they were a little heavy for me to lug around and wrap up so I went to the flex hoses. Well, I went through at least six of those, all of them sprung a leak as soon as the month and up to six months, and they were expensive to keep replacing. So as a reflex, I went to the heavy duty hose, I guess I forgot how impossible those are for me. I just wanted them to last. So I thought what am I to do, neither type hose works for me. The heavy duty ones I never even tried to wrap up, I am at 76 year old woman, and me and a heavy duty hoses were not compatible. But this hose seems to be a wonderful compromise. It is flexible, but not the type that springs a leak right away. You do have to go back and spread your hose in places, but they are not normal kinks, these come undone very easily. They are a breeze to wrap back up, and I so appreciate that. That is so time-consuming with the other ones. I do a lot of watering, I live where it is common to have triple digits every day, and even though I have drought resistant plants, some still need regular watering, like my queen palms. To sum up, I do recommend this hose.

10lbs of rocks
My husband brought in the deliveries the other day and goes, "There's a heavy box that came for you."Me: "Oh, that must be my 10lbs of rocks!"Husband: slow blinks. Thinks I'm joking. Realizes I'm not joking. Looks at label on box. "It is indeed 10lbs." lolAll that to say, you get exactly what the listing says - a small box stuffed full of black, polished river rocks perfect for a wide variety of uses. I have four dozen houseplants, and I like to put small rocks at the bottom of the pots to help the roots not get soggy. And then I like to put rocks on top of the dirt just because it looks nice. There's also the sensory fun of plunging your hands into a box of smooth rocks and having your lizard brain go "Oooo!" So that's fun too.Overall very pleased with this, and wouldn't have ever thought of getting rocks off Amazon, but here I am with a 10lb box of rocks lol.

Nice black decorative rocks for flower pots
When I received this I thought that they had shipped the wrong item as the label on the box said 3 pounds of river rocks and the box seemed smaller than I anticipated. I put the box on the scale and I was wrong, indeed they had shipped the right item as there was ten pounds of rocks in it.I got these rocks for my mother as she has problems with squirrels digging in her pots that she has outside the house. She has tried putting other things such as sticks in the pots but the squirrels kept coming back and digging up her flowers. She put these rocks into the pots and since then she has not had any issues with the squirrels. She has used them in several pots and still has quite a bit of the rocks left over. The rocks have served their purpose and she will continue to use them in other pots where the squirrels might decide to dig.

Beautiful Polished Black Pebbles Suitable for any Decorative Purpose
These pebbles come in a plain box as pictured here. I do see that you can get them in a variety of sizes, namely 2lb., 5lb. and 10 lb. Pictured here is the five pound box. I weighed the box and the box comes in at just over five pounds so you are getting the fair weight of the product. These pebbles are quite beautiful. They are black polished pebbles/stones/rocks. While they may have a variety of uses, I am using them as a decorative addition to my indoor plant pots. Also pictured here is a succulent (cactus) arrangement to which I have added the pebbles. You can see that the pebbles add a nice contrast to the greenery, much more than just looking at black earth. The pebbles are of various sizes but all similar in size for the most part but they are by no means identical so the array of pebbles provides for a very natural, earthy look much like you would find a variety of different stone sizes if you were to take a walk in the woods. The pebbles, of course, actually serve a dual purpose because aside from the decorative look, they assist in drainage. Also, you end up with a much more even look, more pleasant to the eye. I would recommend the largest size if you have a number of plants and choose to use them for this purpose. While the weight sounds like a lot, it takes quite a number of pebbles to fully cover a surface. Once you start spreading the pebbles, you will discover that it takes a fairly significant number of them to cover an area, even if it is a small area. If you want a nice addition to your garden or plant arrangements, I would highly recommend these polished and very smooth pebbles.

Worked well for my needs.
I had to replace the mulch-like cover in the pot for my artificial tree. I didn’t want the same thing because it collects dust and I can’t clean it well. I replaced it with these river rocks and it looks great! They are shiny and improve the overall appearance of the pot. The best part is that I can just take them out and rinse them off when necessary! The box contained more rocks than I needed for the pot, so I’ll probably use the rest in my succulent containers or in a fountain. I have similar rocks in one succulent container, and these rocks are much shinier. (See photo)These river rocks look great and you get 5lbs of them, however, the price (currently $28.99) is on the highest end of the price range for these types of rocks.

It's like, how much more black could it be? And the answer is none... none more black.
Forgive me for sliding in a Spinal Tap quote but I had to. These stones are great for in the garden (in flower pots or flower beds, or lining certain areas...just be careful not to shoot them all over the place when you're mowing the lawn)... We also use them in house plants, a thin layer on top of the soil which helps retain moisture and looks beautiful. I also use them in the bottom of a bowl where we keep our keys, and in a terrarium where they look lovely. (I'll add pics soon.) I got the 10-pound box, which is about 8" wide by 8" long and 3.5" deep, and I'll be ordering more for the flower garden and other uses as we discover more ways to use these. Some of them were chipped or broken, but that really makes no difference to how they work. Pleased!
