After eight summers use my Hazelock timer has just given up the ghost. I appear to have been lucky, reading the reviews on here, that I have enjoyed such a long life out of the unit. My timer expired with water entering the electronics and the unit opening and closing the valve continuously. I was prepared to buy a similar replacement but was put off by the problems that customers had reported on this site. I have bought the Claber Aquauno 8423. It looks a quality item and is definitely much easier to program, the only downside possibly is that it starts watering at the time you switch it on. I have no problem with this but more diligent gardeners may want it to water only at dawn and/or dusk. The main problem I encountered in setting up was problems with the male connector on the bottom of the unit. The Hazelock female connector on the hose pipe only made a very poor connection and badly leaked water. I solved the problem by unscrewing the connector off the Hazelock timer and using it on the new unit. It worked satisfactorily when I commissioned it today and I will be noting its performance over the coming weeks. If I encounter any problems I will update this report accordingly. No further comment means that the 5 stars I have given it have proved to be correct.October 2018. Have used the controller since June with no problems at all. Very satisfied with this item.Sorry to have to report that this item has now failed. It was stored in the loft over the winter and with holidays approaching I retrieved it and set up my watering system. Unfortunately the unit no longer works in accordance with the requested programme but just seems to switch the water on randomly. I do not feel confident enough to leave it in charge while I am away. Very disappointing.

Looks good straight out of the packaging. All works as expected and I like the really simple interface (just two dials). Just set the frequency of watering on one dial and the length on the other. As soon as both are set then the program starts to run, and repeats at whatever frequency you set. That means you have to set the 'program' at the actual time of first watering (i.e. if you want to water twice per day for 15 mins at 6am and 6pm then you would have to set the system actually at 6pm and then set period to 12 hours and duration to 15 mins. But, as I mentioned, I actually like the simplicity and avoiding fiddly button and digital display.Only down side is that to get a temporary water supply you have turn one of the dials to 'Manual', which then means you lose the timing that was initially 'programmed'.We will leave a few months to see if it 'weathers' OK.

Nicely made, easy to set up and program (from 1min to several hours in duration and frequency from once a week to 8hrly) Ideal if you want to set up an auto watering system while away or just leave it to do it for you. 12V battery will be needed PP6 type. no leaks on installation and working well for last month

Great value for money and extremely easy to use, unlike some other brands that can be quite complicated. All in all a good buy, our previous Claber model lasted 20 years!

Having bought two different models of Hozelock timer, each of which failed after 14 months or so, I chose this one three years ago. Not only is it still working, but it's also much more configurable and easier to use.The battery life is excellent, easily lasting the whole 4-5 months of an outdoor season

First class product does everything that is wanted reliably, no problems and very easy to operate recommended

On my third one of these & two out of the 3 have failed - they leak from inside & the case is not waterproof hence the battery gets wet & does as well - overall not a good product - avoid!

Très commode à régler (malgré que les indications soient écrites un peu petit pour des yeux de 64 ans ). J'en ai déjà 3 autres qui résistent à la pluie et au soleil depuis des années. Ils fonctionnent 6 mois par an car je les rentre l'hiver. Pour être CERTAIN que mes plantes soient arrosées pendant mes congés je mets une pile neuve chaque année mais je ne sais pas si la pile ne tiendrait pas davantage qu'un an en réalité ?.Conclusion : très bon produit.

Un bestseller nel su genere, sul mercato da anni ma sempre valido. Le ragioni? È robusto, due manopole intuitive (ogni quanto tempo e per quanto tempo annaffia), senza fronzoli, made in Italy, ben ingegnerizzato, affidabile.Con gocciolatori da 2 litri/ora tengo umidi una ventina di vasi in terrazza. Mi pare comunque idoneo anche per un giardino piccolo/medio. Ma veniamo, come in ogni recensioni che si rispetti, ai pro e ai contro.Punti di forza- generali: prezzo, produttore qualificato, programmazione facile, messa in funzione agevole (basta inserire pila, avvitare raccordo al rubinetto, collegare il tubo di uscita, niente viti)- tecnologici: elettronica sigillata = niente umidità dentro; l'elettromagnete di erogazione acqua è sovradimensionato per funzionare con alta pressione e/o alto flusso; è incluso un filtro a reticella metallica contro impurità acqua; la carrozzeria di plastica è spessa, solida e rifinita; raccordi lato rubinetto e lato tubo non perdono una goccia- user-friendly e idiot-proof (bei paroloni!): i connettorini della pila e dell'elettromagnete, casomai li stacchiate, impediscono lo scambio accidentale o il montaggio all'incontrario: non si può guastare nulla. La parte elettronica di regolazione si può rimuovere dal corpo idrico per provarla "da sola" collegando la sola pila. L'impostazione manuale - simbolo mano 👆 - apre temporaneamente l'acqua per 5 minuti senza cancellare la precedente programmazione, la quale riprenderà "da dov'era rimasta" quando si riporta la manopola dove stava prima. Utile di tanto in tanto per annaffiature extra o per controllare se gli erogatori funzionano tutti bene.- niente orpelli: un solo LED segnala il funzionamento e l'avvenuta "digestione" del cambio impostazioni (ogni volta che girate le manopole); il LED fioco vuol dire che la pila è scarica- ampia latitudine di regolazione: in condizioni estreme di caldo non credo si vorrà innaffiare per più di 1 ora ogni 8, e in inverno per meno di qualche minuto ogni 5-7 giorni- riprogrammare non è un incubo: quando è caldo e vogliamo dare più acqua con la cadenza già impostata - ad esempio 2 volte al giorno - basta solo aumentare la durata. Gli orari di attivazione restano invariati.Punti di debolezza, se proprio li si vuole cercare- non è compreso il raccordo rapido lato tubo, ma con ogni probabilità lo si troverà nel kit di tubicini e gocciolatori necessario a completare l'impianto- il foglio istruzioni pare complicato. Meglio seguire il proprio intuito e andrà tutto bene- alcune combinazioni cadenza/durata corrispondono alla stessa erogazione complessiva e quindi sembrano un sovrappiù, ad esempio 10' × 3 volte/giorno = 15' × 2 volte/giorno = 30' × 1 volta/giorno = 1 ora ogni 2 giorni- non si può aggiungere un sensore di pioggia o di umidità, ma è una funzionalità offerta solo su prodotti di fascia ben più elevata- non è presente la partenza ritardata, mancanza veniale visto che la programmazione la si farà "una volta e poi più"ConclusioneSvolge bene il suo compito e non vi fa perdere tempo, perché tutto pare semplice e ben studiato. Meglio di così...

Affidabile nel tempo, facile da programmare, intuitivo il montaggio, numerose funzioni predefinite.Prezzo assolutamente accettabile.
