Family Handyman Trade Secrets: Fix Your Home Like a Pro! Paperback – June 14, 2012

Upon receipt, I thumbed through this book for a sampling of its tips and tricks. I was so impressed with what I was reading that I went back to the first page and literally scanned every page from front to back to understand or absorb what a great resource this will be in my home and in my shop. My wife and I departed on a 3 hour road trip, and I thought, "what better use of my time, can there be, on a long drive?"This book provides so many tutorials on completing projects throughout the house, that it will be my first resource to tackle whatever job is at hand in the home. If I don't find what I need, then its off to YouTube or one of my many other DIY books that I have on the shelf. This book covers every area of the home, with many useful tips or shortcuts for getting things done easier and without making the mistakes that "trial and error" can produce.

Do yourself a favor especially if you are a woman: get your hands on as many do-it-yourself manuals whether it's Reader's Digest or Family Handyman books. They provide so much great information and you just can't beat the price! You can learn so much not only about how to do things yourself and save a lot of money, but you can see if the unscrupulous contractors are doing a good job when they come to your house to repair something. It's not just a book, it's an investment! I guarantee you that you can find something that can be used immediately!The book was carefully packaged and arrived as advertised.

This book is full of useful information. A good book for the first time homeowners and professionals alike.

Necessity of home ownership... DIY forever...

I am always looking for self-help books like this one which helps make working around the house easier. This book helps in that way.

Book in very good shape.

First, let me say that I LOVE The Family Handyman and their associated magazine.....this book, and the magazine, are a high quality publication. The Trade Secrets book is nice, well organized and has good illustrations. It would be better if it had a hard cover....I use my books like this a lot and the soft cover will get ragged quickly, especially using it in the shop. I gave this book only three stars....not because of the quality of the information, but because I already knew or had most of the info presented. This book is really a compilation of the best articles and tips from the magazine. However, as a subscriber to the magazine, I already had most of the "good tips" highlighted in my magazines....they were exactly the same in the book. So, if you are not a subscriber or are a first time DIYer, then I recommend this book 110%. If you are already a subscriber to the magazine, or have advanced skills, you probably won't learn anything new. Good book, just not a good fit for me.

Couldn't put this book down. It has LOTS of trade secrets that I can use right now! Would highly recommend this book for any do it yourself people like me.

I have has other books from Readers Digest, and they're usually pretty good.This one is fantastic, great illustrations, solid information, great entertainment to kick back and read or browse. Motivates me to get up and fix more things.
