Android TV BOX, Wishpower New Smart TV Box Android 5.1 Quad Core 1G/8G UHD 4K Streaming Media Player TV Box (A)

Just to put in context, there are three other five-star reviews at this time, so maybe I was just unlucky with mine (although I fail to understand how).First thing I did was ensure everything was up-to-date, including the latest update of Kodi (just a case of visiting Google Play and updating). Despite this product being advertised as Android 5.1, I discovered quickly that it was actually Android 6 (maybe it auto-updated without me noticing?).I don't currently have any 4K media, so I have just fed it 1080p media from a portable hard drive. Alas, the experience has not been good. Some videos play ok, with a little choppiness here and there, but a great many are incredibly choppy - I mean it's literally like watching a photo slideshow that refreshes every half-second or so, it's THAT bad. It's as if the hardware just isn't powerful enough, and I dread to think how it would cope with 4K material.On the plus side, I found using a wireless mouse worked instantly (essential for navigating YouTube using scrollwheel) and the Kodi remote app installed on my Nexus works great too, and was easy to set up. But none of this counts for anything if it can't play films properly, which was the main reason I bought it, after all.So, although this is a great idea it's just not fit for purpose and will be returned.UPDATEI have been informed by the helpful supplier that this model is not designed to be compatible with USB portable drives, but works well with USB Flash drives and streaming. Since I have an extensive movie library stored on portable drives (and prefer not to stream) this is not the product for me, and I will seek out something with more power.

first it was all good, boot up quickly etc then a nightmare.... for some apps you need the mouse cursor and it's slow and sluggish as hell ....it takes like 15s to go to the top of the screen, then when you type sometimes it stops ... or when going into a menu option etc it can goes to a halt, some apps don't even receive videos (the reason i bought it for), whether it uses an ethernet or wifi connection...fortunately i had it with a amazon gift , it's not worth more than 0update after 4 days :it s not as horrible once everything is installed it works but not with all channels , and if i had to pay for it i would have returned it back so one star more

Seems OK. Had to spend a long time on first installation however, as it was set up for 60Hz and my Samsung TV didn't accept this. Eventually had to find a non Samsung TV to load it up, and change the settings to 50Hz. Not ideal, but it's up and running now.**Edit** I have upgraded this review to 5. Although I was reasonably happy after changing the settings, the seller reached out to me and explained that it shouldn't have had this problem. They sent another box, which worked absolutely fine first time round. So, for the customer service which went over and above what I expected, and given the fact it works perfectly fine, I've amended accordingly.

Super ...easier to use with a wireless mouse tho 7 quid in asda
