Perfect for My Dog
My dog has degenerative myelopathy and cannot control her back legs well. (Later, the nerves will completely die and she won't be able to use them at all.) Using the uncarpeted stairs has gotten harder and harder. It would take her several tries to garner the courage to come up and sometimes she would cry a bit before starting. After the treads were laid, her first two times up, she had difficulty starting, even pulling one tread off the stair, but once on, she came up with far less trouble. Now she starts up immediately, unless she is tired. Going down was a different story. She refused. I had to take her by the collar and pull her down to start. I continued down, holding the collar and stopping every few stairs. Now she walks down the stairs! On bare wood, she would come down in a controlled fall.I bought carpet tape, but have yet to need it.FINAL UPDATE: December 22, 2013For normal walking, these treads stay in place well. As my dog's loss of mobility in her hind legs increased, she put more and more stress on the treads. After several weeks of just the treads, she needed the carpet tapeddown. This gave her another several weeks before I had to nail the treads down (note she is pulling herselfup by the front legs). The day came that she looked up, cried, and relinquished the second floor. I am gratefulto Clear The Shelves for giving her these extra weeks upstairs.

Love Them!!!
I love these treads!!!!I repainted the stairs leading to the basement and wanted to dress them up. I went to hardware/home improvement stores looking for treads and all they had were the sandpaper treads, black vinyl treads or plain carpet treads. They sold them individually, they needed to be cut to size, and they cost $6.00+ per tread. When I saw these, my troubles were over! I really likerd the design, the light color in the design matched the color of the stairs and they did not have to be cut. I have about 5" of uncoverd stair on each side of the tread (exactly the look that I wanted). And the price was great (about $3.00 per step). They are not real thick or real thin, they are just right. They were very easy to apply. I used double-sided carpet tape (sold separately). I would definitely recommend this product.

A lot nicer than I had expected.
I have weird steps going down to my unfinished basement. I'm renting the house and wanted to try to make it look nice down there without investing too much money into it.The steps going down the the cellar are really thin and steep so the treads hang off about a half inch. But they have rubber on the back side so the treads don't slip. I tested them to makes sure because I carry things up and down the stairs and they stay on pretty well. I don't have to staple them in...which is great with me. Now I can take them with me when I move again.Someone said they looked cheap in the review? I read that and expected to see that when I opened the package but they don't look too cheap to me. They look like synthetic material but the pattern is nice and the rugs aren't sparce badly made or anything like that so maybe the poster expected genuine oriental rug treads for this price of something, I don't know. For the price, it was nicer than expected. I'm happy with them.

Wonderful!!
I am thrilled with this purchase! I thought the price seemed too good to be true and I would fall into the "you get what you pay for" category. However, these not only serve the purpose that I purchased them for (kids/dogs not slipping on steps), but they look great! There was not one single one in the pack with any issues, such as snags. I did purchase carpet tape to use with them, which I would definitely recommend. Even adding the cost of tape, this is such a steal when you need a solution for your hardwood steps ASAP and within a small budget. I would absolutely purchase these again.

TREADS
I bought these stair treads because they were inexpensive and nice looking in the picture. The picture makes them appear to look much nicer then they really are. I got the blue stair treads and the colors are a little ugly together. If I had been able to zoom in and see the actual carpets then i most likely would not have bought these. BUT they were super cheap and they will hopefully fit on the stairs i need them for. I would say these are better suited for basement stairs or stairs that arent in public view. They are nice and soft and thin, which I prefer. All in all they arent too bad for the price. Just a faded version of the picture.

Perfect for my Basement Stairs
We live in a 60 year old home with plain, ugly wood stairs to the garage/basement. Lots of dirt gets tracked onto these stairs. I was looking for non-slip stair treads. While I wasn't necessarily looking for an decorative carpet, these fit the bill. They are thin, not what I would consider top-quality but for the price they are great. I did need to put 2-sided carpet tape on them in order to make them more secure on the stairs, though slippage without the tape isn't too bad, they will move.

Comfortable, attractive, but not perfect
I like these stair treads. They look decent, they are fairly soft - not very plush, but you get what you pay for, $26 for 12 is a good deal. They do have a non-skid bottom but I applied some Intertape 9970 Indoor Carpet Tape 1.87-Inches x 36-Yards to the bottom as an extra precaution. I'm taking a star off because a few of them aren't perfectly rectangular shaped - some of them were slightly out of shape, the sides being a little wavy near the ends. You don't notice it though unless you're looking for it.

Vastly improves footing and safety
Very pleased with these. I attached the front edge with two-sided carpet tape and was going to attach the other three edges but they lay flat and and don't curl so I opted not to. The footing is secure compared to the high gloss paint they covered. They are about 5/16" thick which makes them easy to clean. Each tread required 2 feet of tape which had a tendency to bubble so I punctured them with a pin to let the air escape.
