Good for many situations
I have used antennas like these mostly for portable scanner radios. They provide much better reception than do the short rubber antennas included with most scanners.Other applications include...VHF and UHF amateur radio, for which it is of course necessary toadjust the length of the antenna to suit the frequency to be transmitted.(Don't exceed 10 watts!)Transmitting low levels of RF from a signal generator for aligning receivers.Providing an indirect input to a frequency counter.Numerous other uses can be found.I like to keep one or two of these antennas handy in case I find myself in need.

Antenna doesn't stay at a 90 degree position
This is a very good antenna the only problem I had with it kept falling over. I corrected this by slipping an electrical wrap at the joint bent at 90 Depgrees and used a shrink gun to hold it place.

Good Quality Telescopic Whip
I have bought 3 of these. Using on scanners, and wide band radios. They are whip antennas, so you can vary the length. When using for 2 meters, full extension, when using for scanners, and P25 transmissions reduce the antenna to about 8-10 inches, works very well in my location.
