The reel broke after about the 10th use, it can now turn both ways regardless of the switch position. I tried to get help from the distributor, but received no response. Its a shame, I would have been happy otherwise.

My nephew loved it and it came with a ton of items.

I bought this for my son as a starter rod, it was well packaged and will be good for him to learn with. I am also thinking of getting one for myself when I go kayak fishing since it is so lightweight and compact. It is a good set for someone just starting to fish, or someone who only gets to fish at their leisure. Overall I think I got my moneys worth.

Reel broke within a week of use

I ordered this fishing rod back in April of this year, and I really wanted to use it for a while to test it's durability before writing a review. This sucker past the test with flying colors! So far I have used it over 10 times and I've caught multiple fish. I caught 6 spotted bass in lake Shasta back in May, and the rod held up so well. It will not collapse while in use like other similar rods. The most surprising aspect I found was the quality of the reel. The reel is so smooth, and absolutely tough as nails. Totally rock solid rod and reel that I would suggest to any fisherman whether a pro or a novice.
