It's thick enough steel so you're not easily going to damage it but no too thick. If you don't want to cut your own opening these provide a nice alternative.I have a small 5x6 trailer and these are slightly on the large size. The box needs to be this size to fit the standard oval lights though. They will fit my larger double axle trailer very well. They are large enough so I think I'm going to drill two holes on the bottom of the box so I can add two 2" diameter lights to illuminate my license plate.If I had to come up with something bad it would be that Limicar could include rubber grommets for the smaller hole for where the wires go into the box.A tip for those who are going to weld them to your trailer, well a 1/4-20 stainless steel bolt to the trailer frame or box. It'll make a great ground spot that will not fail down the road.
