Excellent for beginners.

Overall, not a bad introductory book. It tells a beginner all they need to know about assembling the sax and caring for it, how to play the first notes and includes a comprehensive fingering chart. As a not exactly competent player, yet not an absolute beginner I found it very useful for getting back into the instrument after a few years off. The Soundcheck facility, once you have found it doesn’t work with Safari, is useful after you have downloaded the app…with one small niggle which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. The audio exercises have no count in. As soon as you start the audio, the first note plays immediately, so you are in catch up as you play along. Bearing in mind that you need to press the play button, then get your hand back onto your instrument, there is absolutely no way you can start to play at the same time as the audio. As many of the exercises invite you to ‘play along with the track’, I fail to see how this can be accomplished unless you affix a pencil to your nose and start the track using the pencil. Even then it is going to be difficult keeping in time.

I haven't worked through the whole book just yet due to caring responsibilities and moving home but I have leaned so much and been able to memorize the notes so far, better than reading other sources which has enhanced my playing ability.

It's as what it says. Should be a bit more progressive or put books 1,2,3 etc together as one tutor book.

Would recommend this for anyone who is just starting out.

Really good tuition for beginners on how to look after your instrument and how to play however it is not compatable with all mobile or tablet devices to do the sound check

Purchased it so I can start learning the saxophone again. Easy to follow just have to remember and get in sync again, but it’s a good book
