On the pillow's back is reproduction floral cotton fabric (1770-1780s) that was purchased at an old mercantile shop in Colonial Williamsburg, Washington DC.. In back, CELLULOID navy buttons secure a pillow insert (not included). Celluloid buttons were popular during the late 1800s through the 1920s. They could be made to imitate ivory or wood. By the 1930s, Bakelite buttons had taken their place as the most popular.
