Fantastic telescope for someone just starting out in astronomy and great for some family fun
The media could not be loaded. This telescope was fantastic for me - a beginner that has never owned a telescope before. I've always wished I had one when we go camping - and this one is small and light enough to be perfect for that. It comes in a super handy carrying case with straps to hold everything in securely. There is also a little pouch for the different lenses and pieces it comes with (like the cell phone adapter). Putting it together was a breeze with the instruction booklet it came with. Honestly, it was pretty easy to put together! It took me like 10 minutes max. I was outside testing it out in no time. It took a little bit to figure out how to line it up to see the moon, but that was just because I am a newbie to this. Hahaha! The side piece on the telescope allows you to line up your object to the cross hairs. Once you do that, then looking into the telescope should have the object right in the middle. In my case, I was looking at the moon. And the moon moves pretty fast, so you have to adjust it every once in a while. The tripod handle can be twisted (kind of like a motorcycle handle) to tighten it once you adjust. There is also another knob on the tripod to control how tight things get. You can adjust both just enough to carry the weight of the telescope without it flopping over, but just enough to keep it mobile. If you want to adjust on a fixed item in the distance, you can make these tighter. Works out really well. The tripod is perfect for the telescope because it also comes with a little carrying tray for the different lenses and pieces in the middle of it, including the Barlow lens. Which was new to me - the Barlow lens allows you to add even more zoom on top of the 24x and 60x lenses that it comes with. (That's the 10mm and 25mm lenses.) Great for seeing the moon. I used that and the 25mm lens to get the photos of the moon at 180x zoom! I first tried to connect the cell phone adapter in the dark, but ended up needing some light to line it up. My phone fit nice and tight into the adapter, which made me feel comfortable that it wasn't going to fall. Just make sure you tighten it well when you line it up to the eyepiece on the telescope. That way, it won't shift while you move the telescope. I had absolutely no problems following the moon with my phone attached - it's how I was able to get these photos of the moon. Pretty cool! Oh - I should also mention the covers/caps it has for the lenses to help keep them free of dust.My hot take: this is a fantastic telescope to get if you're first venturing into the world of astronomy or looking for somethign fun to do with your kids. It's compact and pretty light for it's size. But it also seems to be really well made - so I'm expecting it to last a long time.

Pretty good telescope, terrible tripod
I bought this telescope for my 11-year-old boy's birthday. I was shocked when we looked at Jupiter and were able to see its moons! I'm not a telescope expert, and none of my family is, but we have enjoyed using this telescope. My biggest complaint is that the tripod is extremely flimsy and does not lock in position well at all, especially if you have the camera mount attached with the phone on it. The weight of the phone makes it impossible to lock the tripod into position. Still, I'm glad we got this for my son and it is a great first telescope.
