Most important purchase I made this summer.
I don't usually write reviews, but felt this product was so great, I had to say something about it. I drove cross country this past summer with my cat who is semi-feral. She isn't aggressive, but she doesn't know how to interact with people. I've had her since June 2005 and she's made great progress, but she still won't let me near her and she hides under the bed all day and night. She comes out when I'm sleeping, not in the room, or not home. I had to enlist my next door neighbor to help me catch her whenever I had to take her to the vet. This cat is fast and will literally run up walls to avoid us.I had to figure out a way to let her out of the small crate she would be traveling in while in the car, but something that would keep her enclosed and unable to dart under the hotel beds, because I knew if that happened, I'd never catch her again. I came across this product on Amazon and after much research, decided this was the "cage" that I needed. The product worked without a hitch. It took up little room in my car when folded which was good because my car was literally packed to the top. Once I got to each hotel, I first brought in my cat in her crate, this play yard, and all of my cat's accessories. The play yard went up first. It was so easy. I then put a small litter box, my cat's food and water, some treats, and the small crate with her in it into the play yard. I zipped the top on the play yard and then opened one of the zippered doors so that I could open the small crate door and take it off. She stayed in the crate until I re-zippered the door and was away from the play yard. My cat had plenty of room to stretch and walk around. I was very comfortable then going to get the rest of my luggage knowing that she was safe and secure. She was a little freaked out the first night because she had never been in an enclosed space like this before. She was literally bouncing off the sides trying to find a weak spot to get out and under the bed. The play yard held beautifully. Thankfully, she settled down for the next three nights.Every morning, I guided her back in the small crate if she wasn't already in it, and I put the crate door back on and took her out of the play yard. I have no idea what she did each night, but she managed to get litter everywhere. She also managed to get some of her water mixed in with the litter so the play yard was a mess. This play yard cleaned up quickly and easily. I was able to pull up the floor and let the litter gently go into a trash bag. I used clorox wipes to wipe it down and disinfect it. I then folded it back up and put everything back in the car for another day of driving.Once I got to my new home, I set up the play yard in my bedroom and took the door off her crate and rolled up the door on the play yard. Despite the fact we were in a new home with no furniture, she adapted wonderfully. I used the play yard until my furniture arrived a couple of weeks later.I know some other reviews complained that the velco bottom was a weak spot and I can see how some animals who are good diggers could get out, but I had so much in the play yard, there was no way my cat could have pulled it back (and she probably wouldn't have tried even if she could have). And as I mentioned above, the ability to pull out the bottom was a great benefit to me when cleaning it. For the reasons mentioned above, I highly recommend this product.

Awesome for alternative pets (those that aren't dogs)
I bought this for my cat as a home away from home because he was going to stay with friends while I went gallivanting across the country. I got it a few days before I left and set it up in my house- it went together nicely with no assistance from instructions (like most manufactured items like this they smell of chemicals and need airing out anyway). He took to it right away. I unzipped the two flap doors on it and he'd go in and out as he pleased. It folds fairly easily and slides right into its zippered and handled sleeve. The mesh "roof" zips on and off like a dream. I was not terribly impressed with the velcro attached bottom but due to the other reviews I was prepared for that. I didn't have any problems with it though- both times it was set up it was on a hard floor and my cat never figured out that it detatches. I also believe my friends who watched him were grateful for the ease of detaching the flooring because of some other incident I will reference now.My cat hated being zipped up in the kennel. My friends thought he might feel more secure. Wrong-o. He apparently tore through the thing knocking over his water, litter box & even his bed. This is a cat thing so no fault to the kennel. It was a true test of its durability though- no rips holes or tears from his burst of madness (and he didn't escape). My friends also appreciated the ease of clean up with the detachable flooring. Also I will note my 8lb cat has even been on top of this kennel while set up and much to my happiness it did not collapse under his weight or even threaten to.I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. In fact I'm going to also recommend this to those with rabbits and guinea pigs (even rats!) as I think this would be an excellent playpen indoors or out for them and even has a grommeted hole for a water bottle (but not a good permanent home for chewers or escape artists).

Sleep/Nap time for 5 rescued Kitties that worked Perfect!!
I rescued 5 4-wk old sibling kittiens and with other rescues knew I needed a place to keep them separated and safe. I live in a small townhome and space is a premium. Granted, this is a large playpen and it took up some space in my living room but that was a small price to pay for keeping them safe and together. I was able to fit a small litter box on one side and bedding on the other and that was their "bed" until they were old enough to jump up on the top. They finally broke the zipper but they were months old. It is very easy to clean out everyday, it's all waterproof but I just used a safe cleaner and lots of puppy pee pads. When I put them down for a nap/bedtime I spayed some Comfort Zone Feliway space and placed a queen or king size cheap blanket over it leaving one panel and a little on top uncovered for fresh air. Changed the litter box daily and cleaned for nap and it was perfect. It's a solid play pen that folds and unfolds easily and its lightweight for moving around to vacuum under. I highly recommend this for anyone in the same situation. Another good thing for kittens is that this one is taller and it's a while before they are old enough to jump up and attach to the cover and damage it which they will eventually do, however, having said that, it is netting that they can climb to the top, and attach and pull down on. Another thought regarding kittens and older cats; the older cats will try to jump on top and use as a bed but this is not sturdy enough for jumping cats without collapsing onto kittens. Be sure to place lightweight deterrents on top to keep them off. Also, if not on rugs or padded carpeting it will need some.

Great option for your well-behaved pet
Having read the other reviews, I will say that I agree that this is probably not a great option for a destructive dog. While I don't have a "perfect" dog, she is 10 yrs old, and blind. She has been crate-trained since I adopted her 7 years ago, because she had anxiety issues. But when I crate her, it's to make her feel secure and not flip out when we are gone and/or hurt herself. She seems to be reassured to be in a contained space, like it's her "bedroom". She's not a chewer and not a very motivated escape artist. So given all that, for our purposes, I think this is great. Our dog will occasionally have an accident in her crate from anxiety, so I like that this has the vinyl bottom you can attach. And I like that it's removable, so you can easily wipe it clean, and it will hopefully mostly protect our wall to wall carpeting. I didn't want to get a large crate that takes up tons of space in our apartment, so I really like that this is quickly collapsible, and comes in a carry case for traveling. She is epileptic, and we have another soft sided pen for her for her to have her post-seizure freakout in (where she just runs around like a maniac for 20 minutes)but that one doesn't have a bottom so we are limited to use it in our kitchen where there is no carpeting; I think that this pen will replace that pen, her crate (smallish metal cage that she could hurt herself in if she had a seizure), and her collapsible fabric travel crate. So all told, I'm really happy with this product, but I would definitely agree that if you have a strong/Houdini-esque/destructive dog hell-bent on getting out, this is not a good choice. As a quiet space for a mostly mellow animal, it's perfect.If/when it falls apart or shows major signs of wear, I'll update this review.

Perfect puppy pen
While a little tricky to fold back up and use the packing strap, this travel pen / kennel has been exactly what we needed! My greatest concern when ordering was the relative size for what we needed. I've included a picture to give reference for dog owners. This play pen provides plenty of room for a large dog bed on one side and a full size piddle pad on the other. Our three month old French Bulldog loves this little retreat where he spends the night plus anytime we leave him alone during the day. Plenty of visibility for him to see what's going on given the screens on every panel.Another great feature is the removable floor and screen top. We can easily take this outdoors for a safe place in an unfenced yard and then replace the floor when indoors to protect our floor.Durability has been impressive, withstanding rambunctious puppy "zoomies" that he does even within this pen. His constant teething and chewing hasn't resulted in and problematic damage either. Even the jumping up and scratching to let us know he wants out hasn't damaged the screens.
