Great Buy!
My cat has a heavy undercoat which causes his hair to get matted quickly. I found several that would help with that. When I looked again on Prime Day I was delighted to find this one for half price. I’m super happy with it! The second day I used it almost all of the mats are gone! It’s well worth the full price. I found I do have to be gentle though when brushing him and the self cleaning feature is a definite plus.

It works for dogs with long hair
I have a pitbull, wasn’t much helpful with his short hair. But I can definitely see the use for dogs with longer hair

Amazing self cleaning
All brushes should be made this way including human brushes. You push a button and the needles retract then just wipe the hair into the trash..amazing. Seems to collect hair well off of my dog.

Shedding Brush
Works well and is easy to clean. The bristles are easy to break or bend though.

One handed operation
We had a Japanese Mastiff (Guinness) for just over ten years before we unfortunately had to put him down, then we went eighteen months without a dog, which is seventeen months longer than we have ever gone after losing one of our companions. Guinness made quite the mess each day, much of it in the way of slobber, but he also shed hair like crazy and we had to vacuum the entire house daily.About three months ago we finally got another dog, Ruger, who at the time was about ten months old and is now not quite 13 months old and about 170 pounds. Ruger makes Guinness look like a neat freak. Ruger is literally the biggest slob of a dog I could ever imagine, and he seems to shed twice as much as Guinness ever did. We already had a 'furmanator' from Guinness and had been using it with Ruger but, despite it doing a good job of removing hair, it seemed to take a bit too long due to the narrow width of the head. When combined with a dog who really doesn't do well holding still for long periods, we needed to try something else. This brush is wider and just covers more overall area with each pass which is important when you are attempting to keep a 170-pound dog in place with one hand while brushing with the other. Truth be told, the furminator probably removes more hair but it takes longer, and I have to remove my 'security' hand from Ruger each time I need to remove the hair from the comb since it doesn't have any type of retraction to allow the hair to just fall off.I give this brush 5-stars because it seems to do a very good job of removing hair while also allowing me to keep my other hand on Ruger so he can't dash away and make this chore into another game. Also, I'm not convinced that it's really all that important to 'remove the most hair' as the furminator likely does, since I can brush Ruger with the furminator for twenty minutes and I am still getting tons of hair off of him. I am convinced that frequency is more important than the brush itself so given that this brush is easier to use on a dog who doesn't want to hold still, I plan to continue using this brush rather than the furminator.I have not and likely will not use the "pet hair remover" included with this product (the piece that is essentially the handle) since I work from home, and I am a bit of a hermit who doesn't leave the house much. Even when I do, I'm not sure how much beneficial it would be to remove 'Ruger hair' when I know there is likely 'Ruger slobber' in places I cannot even see so whatever, I own a large and disgusting dog and anyone who knows me also knows that, so no big deal.

Great Brush! Teeth are a Tad Short - Effective & Helpful!
In reality I would rate this at 4.5 stars.. my only reason for slightly docking the product is because i do wish the comb teeth were a little bit longer. But the length they are is still effective.I have a small Papillon Dog, which is a toy breed with very long, fluffy, whispy like hair. This brush worked like a charm on her long hair. This seems to be especially effective for longer pet hair/fur. I also have a very soft medium hair kitty (she’s similar to a Norwegian Forest or Ragdoll Cat) and this is where i wish the teeth were a tad longer to really be able to get into her soft, smoother like fur. It does help but her fur is so soft that this doesn’t grab quite like the wire slicker brush i used before. Also, this brush is decently more bulky so can be awkward on tighter areas like under her tummy and chin/chest/head area. In addition is was a little awkward on my 10lbs dog since she so tiny. But this wasn’t a significant issue and more just something to keep in mind for cats and small dogs. But boy is this convenient! Simply push the button to bring out the teeth and push again to retract them. The hair simply slides off when retracted. I hope this function will last.. the button on my brush jiggles around and doesn’t stay down when the teeth are out. But it works fine for now. The teeth stayed put when out. They didn’t retract on their own or push In unless i pushed the button to retract them.I had no clue what the extra insert was but now I know it a small hair remover which is pretty awesome! And it really works! I used it to clean fur off my pants after brushing and it picks up the hair wonderfully. Such a great idea to include this and better yet, it fits right inside of the handle.. genius!Overall I’m happy and my fur babies love it! It’s very effective, useful and convenient. It feels made well as well. I definitely give this my recommendation!

GENIUS !!!
I don’t know what else to say. This product is absolutely brilliant. No more poking your fingers with metal spikes while you try to remove hair. Just press a button & POOF !! Highly recommend.

A must-have for shedding pet owners
My cat sheds a lot, and this brush is the first one that actually, truly works for him! The design and how it works is so smart that it’s extremely easy to clean and have it ready to brush again. And apparently it’s very comfortable because he loves getting brushed with it!

Somewhat unwieldly
I find this brush rather large in the hands, and it is really quite light. You know when you pick up a spray bottle...that plastic feeling, hard but hollow. That's what it feels like.Don't get me wrong...it works on my Pyrenees, but it didn't pull nearly as much hair off as I expected it to (I went over his fur with another brush after and got significantly more.) It did make his fur look all nice and neat though. The cats though, love the feeling of this brush...even if it captured very little of their fur.The self-cleaning feature works very well. The hair removal tool, however, did nothing at all.Overall review: It works, but perhaps just not as well on double coated dogs.

Works Well With Questionable Quality
This review is for the version that is the brush and the hair remover. I got this brush because one of my cats sheds worse than any dog I've ever met and I'm tired of continually trying to clean out their brush. I like how it works but the quality leaves me to question the durability and longevity of the brush. It does a very good job of brushing up hair. It even helped me remove a very long standing mat on my other cat. The self-cleaning feature is very nice and I wish I had gotten this style of brush long ago. The additional hair remover wand that is housed in the end of the brush is also relatively useful. I used it to get a bit of hair off of my clothing one time.As for the quality of this brush I am rather disappointed. to bring the tines of the brush out of the main body you need to press down on a button. The first few times I used the brush I had no problems. Subsequent brushings the button has stuck some while trying to bring the tines in and out. while trying to release it the main body of the brush feels like the plastic is going to split into two. This leaves me to wonder about the durability and longevity of this brush.I will have to see how long this brush lasts and I will update my review. as of right now I do not feel it is worth the $22.99 CAD being asked for it. That may change with time though.

Would be perfect for a bigger animal
My cats weren't sure about this brush at first, because it is BIG and intimidating. I think it would be better suited to larger animals, like larger dogs. The size makes it difficult to manoeuvre around all the kitties' bends and cute little curvy bits. That being said, they quickly grew to love it. It does a great job of digging out their shedding undercoat. And the best part is how easy it is to clean -- press the button, the bristles tuck in, the fur pops off in a nice, neat, felted mat!
