Antoni 5555 1/2 Sized Violin Shoulder Rest

My violin teacher has been after me for about a year now to get my child a shoulder rest for her 1/2-sized violin. I've been avoiding it (using sponges and such-like instead) because when I've tried rests in the past, they were always too deep from collar bone to jaw for a child, even those fancy ones that are supposedly adjustable for height.In the end, I went for this one, sort of because it looked kind of pretty with those swirly bits, hoping the 7-year-old would be taken by its style and try to use it.Basically, I'm happy with it. The depth is fine for my little girl (as one would expect of a shoulder rest that fits a 1/2-sized violin!). My particular item has silvery swirly-bits rather than black in this picture, and the red part is a velvety pillow that sits on the collar bone area (the rest is pictured upside-down here). Underneath the pillow as you look at the photo is a flat, hard part that must be wood or something, the base on which the pillow-y part and its fabric is attached (but this never touches the child so it doesn't matter).I didn't give it a top-rating because the adjustment is so low-tech that the "adjustable" pair of feet on one side just fall out of their groove if you pull them too far. That being said, you just pop it back in and make sure you've got the adjustment slidey-thing at a bit of an angle so it stays in its groove, and then it fits over the 1/2-size just fine.

As mentioned by another review this is too small to fit a 1/2 Sized Violin.

This shoulder rest is fine, except it does not fit a 1/2 size violin as specified. It will fit a 1/4 violin just fine, but don't buy it if you have a 1/2 size. The product is quite cheaply made as expected for the low price. But it works well as a suitable chin rest for a 1/4 size model.

Elle est jolie et pratique à mettre par ma fille de 8 ans. Elle la trouve très confortable pour jouer.
