Might Not Pronounce It, But I Sure Can Praise It: The LEUCHTTURM1917 Drehgriffel Mechanical Pencil
The LEUCHTTURM1917 Drehgriffel Mechanical Pencil is as challenging to pronounce as it is easy to love. Despite my tongue-twisting attempts with its name, the 'Drehgriffel' (which I've fondly nicknamed "Dre") has quickly become my favorite writing tool. Here's why this pencil is much more than just a mouthful.First off, the quality of the Drehgriffel is unmistakably high. It boasts a sleek, minimalist design typical of LEUCHTTURM1917, finished in a vibrant 'Rising Sun' orange that's as bold as it is beautiful. The body is robust, hinting at the durability that has become synonymous with the brand. I've dropped it more times than I'd care to admit, and not only does it remain unscathed, but it also continues to function flawlessly. The grip is another high point. It's designed to be comfortable for long periods of writing without causing fatigue, which has been a game changer during my long drafting sessions. The balance between the lightweight feel and the sturdy build makes it a delight to use. The 0.7 mm HB graphite lead that comes with it offers a smooth writing experience—perfect for both sketching and note-taking, delivering clear, crisp lines without any breakage. When it comes to ease of writing and comfort, the Drehgriffel scores top marks. The refillable lead mechanism is straightforward and reliable, ensuring that I'm never distracted by maintenance woes during my creative or work-related endeavors. It's the kind of pencil that boosts your productivity simply by being such a pleasure to use.Value for money is another significant aspect. Yes, it may be priced a tad above your average mechanical pencil, but the superior writing experience, combined with its durability and the brand's prestigious heritage, makes it a worthwhile investment. This isn't just a tool; it's a partner in the writing process, reliable and ready for years of service. In conclusion, while the LEUCHTTURM1917 Drehgriffel Mechanical Pencil might twist your tongue trying to say it, it won't twist your hand while using it. From its stylish aesthetics to its impeccable performance, it stands out as a top-tier choice for anyone serious about their writing instruments. It’s a sunrise on my desk every time I pick it up—bright, dependable, and full of potential

A mechanical pencil masterpiece
This is beyond just a pencil - it’s a work of art that belongs in the MoMA. The weight feels sturdy yet balanced; it’s not heavy nor is it light. Size is just right for me, not small. Feels right in the hand and this will last a long time. I’m glad I purchased this, as it is so smooth to write with and is nice and streamlined. No eraser but I haven’t missed it, since I always keep a better eraser nearby at all times (being a sketch artist, it comes natural to do that).I’m now interested in checking out the pen version. I’m loving this brand.

A good pencil. An expensive pencil.
If a pencil exists that is worth this much money. It is surely this one. I use it a lot. Nice and heavy.

Minimalistic, Elegant, Effortless
I do NOT typically write with 0.7 mm lead; I have a VERY heavy "fist", and usually smash, crush, and smear ANY pencil lead that isn't approaching the diameter as a baseball bat. However, I am enamored of Leuchtturm products (I could not function without their bullet journal), and, green is my favourite colour. On a whim, I decided to order this mechanical pencil, despite apprehensions that I might be throwing my money away in purchasing an item that (for me, at least), would be rendered unusable and impractical BECAUSE of how "hard" I press pencil to paper. It was a fantastic decision! Not only is it aesthetically-pleasing, it feels SO comfortable in my hand. The heft of the thing is impressive. And, I have complete control of the length of lead I "let out" of the pencil, and, the stylus-like tip enables me to exert control. It just... flows... as I write. I have been using it all morning (taking notes during professional development meetings) and it has yet to break on me.It does NOT have an eraser; however, that did NOT deter me from immediately awarding 5 stars to the pencil.

Pleasure to write with
I like to have a pencil for my planner - for events and appointments that might change, be rescheduled, and for sketching out various ideas. This pencil is a new favorite. Style is attractive, and weight is great in the hand; nicer than any other mechanical pencil I have used. I only have one complaint - lack of eraser on the end. Don’t find it to be an issue most of the time, as I usually carry a Boxy eraser, but would prefer to have one on the pencil itself.

Very nice.
I was looking for something with a thicker lead. This pencil caught my eye. As you can see I got the yellow. It is built sturdy and metal. Holds maybe eight leads. I’m not disappointed. It’s hefty and feels good in the hand but not too heavy to be fatiguing. They are a little expensive but one day I’ll buy the sage green. Such a nice pencil. I bought 90 more leads for about $5.

Nice Pencil - if you want .5mm simply swap the internal mechanism for Schmidt DSM 2006 .5mm
Great pencil (yes it is on the more expensive side, but it is well made, easy to hold and use, and the twist mechanism works well). I did not see this offered in a .5mm lead size which I prefer. I only could find it offered in the .7mm size. Hopefully, therefore, this might help others if you prefer another lead size. I went ahead and ordered it, and fortunately, upon receipt and opening it up, the internal pencil mechanism itself is just a Schmidt DSM 2006. Therefore it was simply a matter of ordering one of those separately (example:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LXAEYJN?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) in a .5mm lead size and unscrewing the .7mm insert and replacing it with the .5mm insert. As others have pointed out, this does not come with a built-in eraser. Overall it is a very nice mechanical pencil, and when paired with the corresponding ballpoint pen, it makes a nice overall set.

Great for smaller hands
Elegant mechanical pencil. Nice weight and easy to use. It’s not that long so probably best for smaller hands.
