good quality ...
This lantern is made the way lanterns should be, the way they used to be. When I was a kid, sometimes the power would go out on the farm during periods of intense cold. Dad would take out lanterns from his father's time and set a couple of them in the pump house to keep the pump from freezing. Those old lanterns from my grandfather's time were built not for decoration to dress up a kitchen to look quaint, but to use. This lantern is built the same way. You don't have to futz with the tank cap to unscrew it or with the lifting mechanism or fight to get the glass out to clean it. Even the literature on the box clearly states that this lamp was built to German commercial specs not as a decorative lamp but as a primary light source, so this item is built to use. Wholeheartedly recommend.

High quality kerosene lantern
I have a strange affectation with kerosene lamps and lanterns, ever since I found an Dietz in my parents' barn that was made in USA, probably early 20th century. It looks and works perfectly to this day. I've since bought several new Dietz lanterns, that are, of course, made in China. And they work fine, and they feel like they're OK. Not chinsy, anyway. But, this one is noticeably higher quality! The glass seems heavier, and the movement is so much smoother, and it's not all squeaky when you raise and lower the globe. Definitely worth the money! This is something that I'll hang on to and use for the rest of my life, and proudly so.

High quality lantern
I have a collection of lanterns and this one is definitely the best quality as compared to the other company who now makes theirs in China. It’s worth the extra money.

Quality Lantern
I wanted another cold blast lantern to have during power failures. This lantern has become my favorite cold blast lantern. It's smaller than a Dietz Little Wizard. The workmanship is better than other cold blast lanterns I've used. The air tubes have eye holes attached for the handle rather than holes in the air tubes that the handle fits into.

Pretty, pricey and small
This is the Feuerhand Baby Special 276 Storm Lantern, "Made in Germany Since 1893" is pretty. But I cannot see much difference in it vs the cheaper versions out there. It's nearly identical in weight and aesthetics, just stamped metal. The only way to tell if's it's better will be to leave it out in the elements to see how it holds up, and I'd rather not subject a painted, or even galvanized and powder-coated item to those conditions. If it is manufactured in Germany, I am all for paying more. Germany has more stringently enforced labor and environmental laws than those produced in asia. Cheap products come to us at a "true" cost which we're insulated from.

High quality
Lantern is well made, sturdy, durable, easy to operate. Easy to maintain. Nice size small enough to pack for camping and large enough to burn citronella lamp oil effectively deterring mosquitoes and other insects. Does not leak around base seal.

A little pricey. I like it.
When buying my first kerosene wick lantern, I read that these are superior to Dietz, but I also read that they aren't that much better. So I went with a Dietz and then Rayo. Eventually I liked these lanterns enough to want to spring for one of these Fuererhand (every time I spell it differently). I wish they had brass accent option, but I chose the galvanized (plain silver?) unpainted which was less expensive and has a utilitarian charm. My larger Rayo has developed a very slow, seeping leak at the bottom crimp. My smaller Rayos needed cork gaskets to replace the rubber which swelled oversize and wouldn't fit back into the fill cap. My Dietz is doing okay, but I think Dietz gets away with premium prices for Chinese lanterns based on their name fame. I think this Feuerhand is fairly priced. Like German cars, it may be better quality, but it may not be the best choice for every person with different needs and different budgets, and it will still be subject to imperfections. I would not say it's built like a tank or anything (it's not the "Mercedes-Benz" of lanterns), but I expect it will outlast and outvalue my others, and if I need any more, I will buy Furhand again rather than more Rayo or Dietz. Maybe this is the Volkswagen of lanterns (and I mean the old Beetle).
