I'm more confident my CPAP tubing is clean
I purchased this to help clean my CPAP tubing and other parts. I can't afford the special, expensive cleaning machine. So I soak all possible parts in hot water, vinegar and baby shampoo once a week. But I had difficulty getting the tubing submerged and filled with water. Using the brushes gives me another layer of reassurance my tubing, etc. is clean. There is a learning curve to getting the brush through the tubing, but can be done.

Does the job safely
CPAP equipment is expensive. Mold and bacteria from dirty equipment can make you sick. Therefore finding keeping your equipment clean and extending it's life is important. Some companies market ultraviolet light cleaners for this. However, the FDA warns against using ultraviolet cleaners for CPAP equipment. Science shows it is ineffectual at disinfecting anything but surface areas. It will not clean in the crevices of tubing connectors or around the coils of heated tubing. Ozone cleaners are also marketed to clean CPAP equipment. The FDA strongly advises of the possible danger of those devices. They are proven to leave particles behind that are known to irritate respiratory passages. There are documented cases of respiratory caused by those ozone cleaners. That leaves good old fashion soap and water along with scrubbing as the only safe methods to clean your CPAP equipment. This is where the scrubber I am reviewing comes in. It does the job of scrubbing the inside of the tubing clean. Using I squirt mild soap and water into the tubing then feed in the scrubber until it hits the end. Since I have ResMed heated tubing the end is at a right angle and I can not just pull it strait through. I have to pull it out. I quickly learned to pull it out I have to pull the tubing from the end the brush is in and not pull the wire attached to the brush. When I am done I run water through the tubing to wash away the soap. I then use the small brush to clean both the part that connects to the machine and the connector to my mask.

So clean! My tube has never been so clean!
I love this brush. For the longest time I did 'the dance' when cleaning my cpap tubing. Fill it with soapy water and rock the hands up/down back/forth, maybe shake the hose around a bit and try to create some turbulence in there to get off any/all buildup that you can't really see inside of the hose. Not that I felt like it wasn't getting clean, but sometimes I always thought it could be cleanER. Enter, the brush. So great. One end of the brush is slightly wider than the other, good for thin and thick tubing alike. There is a protective flex rubber around most of the metal handle, great for feeding into the tube. The brush is just long enough so when going thru the whole tube either end will stick out of either end of the tube. Easy to scrub and pull thru and I feel like my tube is just getting that much cleaner every time I use it. The bristles on each brush feel nice, thick and dense. The smaller brush is great for scrubbing the inside of the rest of the equipment, the machine itself, the water chamber and other fittings. Great get, totally worth the $10 to feel a little more peace of mind about your CLEAN cpap equipment.
