NOT MACHINE WASHABLE!!!!:(
Horrible, horrible, horrible. I thought this was going to be a good mat because of the description. It said it was machine washable which is very important. "Machine washable Perfect for pets!" Well when my pet threw up on it and I put it in the washer, to my horror, it came out like this!!! 😱 Yes those are my fingers poking through the holes in the front of the mat. I cannot even say how disappointed I am in this product. $25 and this happened at the first time I attempted to wash it. I have a brand new washing machine that is only 2 months old, side loading, no agitator. I wash delicate clothing in this that normally I would send to the dry cleaner and it doesn't damage anything. Bottom line, I would not recommend this product.

Not recommended
This mat is not as absorbent as the TV ad would have you believe. It is not true that you can just step on it once or twice and it will absorb all the mud and water off your shoes (or paws). You have to step more like 10 times. It absorbs about as well as any other microfiber rug I've tried. The rubber backing is kind of stiff and doesn't act very non-skid-like. The edges of the rug are not finished so fibers come off all over the place. I don't recommend this product.Update Feb 2019: I downgraded my review from two stars to one. Not only was it not as absorbent as it was claimed to be, but now the rubber backing is breaking off in pieces, leaving the thin microfiber covering unsupported. Now it's like a useless rag. I only washed it in the washing machine maybe three times, so I don't think it's falling apart because of over-washing.The only good thing I can say about it is that it vacuumed well -- it didn't get sucked up and it cleaned up well, making washing less necessary. So if you don't mind that it only lasts about a year, for the price you basically get a disposable rug.

NOT!!!!
Isn't quite as magical as shown, which I suspected but what I didn't suspect was how it fell apart totally in the wash. It was destroyed in wash and left quite a mess in washer. That left me a bit more that disappointed.

Cut piece of normal carpet
I gave this review one star because I received my order albeit weeks after it was placed. This throw rug and it is a joke. The picture shows a finished and clean edge which is nothing like I received. Mine is shedding on the edges and looks more like a rug sample than a throw mat. As for absorbing water and dirt - it really doesn't seem to be any different from any other carpet that might be needed by the door.

Don't ever wash!
I bought two of these mats five years ago and was very satisfied. The instructions then were to wash them before use and then as needed in cold water with no detergent. This time there were no washing instructions. I learned why when so many fibers were shed that it clogged up the drain. The plumber's bill was $150 making these new mats EXTREMELY pricey.

Really waterproof for what is under it !!!!!
Somehow, I bought three of these 4 years ago. As a teacher, I don't get home in time for my small dog. She can't hold her bladder and has been trained on these rugs, IF, she can't make it. Usually, I put a clean one out about once a week or a little less. Meanwhile, the soiled one goes in the washer and dryer. They have lasted so-o-o long. However, I checked on Amazon and thought that I was ordering something close. You can imagine when I opened up the package to the same rugs. W O N D E R F U L !!!!Originally, they were at my front, back, and garage doors. I'm going to re-order ones for there, too.

it seems to do a pretty good job
Doesn't work as promised. If I stop and wipe my feet well, it seems to do a pretty good job, but from the video it implies that a person need to merely walk across it, which is definitely NOT the case. Also, no one would simply "walk across" a mat this small. They would have to deliberately walk on it and let's be real, most men and children, won't think to do that.
