Blade Media BM5000s Neo High Definition HD 1080p 3D Ready Satellite Receiver With Smartcard Slot

This is review of the Blade 5000, a comparison to the Strong sat receiver and a commentary on the seller Pamelina.This was a very disappointing item and the seller is poor in comparison to other Amazon 3rd party sellers.I needed a receiver for German Free to Air TV on Astra 19.2, this was a present for my German wife, we live in the North of England.The first frustration was that there is no epg without downloading. This meant I had to manually remove 900 unwanted channels and rearrange the 60 or so we wanted. It took 3 hours.However, when this was done things were fine, the picture was good and channel navigation was excellent.However, within 2 months the sound stopped working and the remote packed up completely, prompting a return. More on the return experience later.I hand to replace this item with the Strong sat receiver. It cost half as much and had a German epg ready, meaning I was watching all the channels we wanted within 30 seconds of plugging in. This Strong sat receiver product has worked brilliantly so far touch wood and is vastly superior to the Blade 5000 which seems overpriced and poor in comparisonReturning the Blade 5000 was a frustrating experience. Prompted by the company themselves I returned by Royal Mail which cost £11. They received it the day after I sent it according to delivery tracking. However 4 dats after they had it they hadn't contacted me. I emailed them twice and then Amazon once before they bothered to reply.Then, they only refunded £10 of the £11 delivery cost and have ignored emails of complaint I made about this discrepancy. It may seem mean to complain about a missing £1, but this has never happened before with other sellers and I use Amazon 3 or 4 times a week

I don't normally review products, but this Blade Media BM5000 is the worst purchase I made on Amazon. it does not tune very well, so its not a sensitive sat box.1) Deleting channels, if you select too many it crashes the device and restarts.2) Tuning in Sat, it does not pickup all channels, it even sometimes does not pickup the whole satellite. The reason I know this, is that my old box when I plug it in. Which is an old Technomate 3000, it works a treat.3) While navigating between sat list and selected sat, it keeps defaulting to Turk sat and when I nav trying to select another sat it crashes and restarts.4) its unstable it crashes and reboot so many times5) Channel list online, they only have a few of the sats6) I have updated to latest firmware and issue still exists.Advice to anyone buying a satbox, stick to Technomate, its better.

Having compared this receiver to the BM7000, I can say it has advantages and disadvantages. On the plus side, it can easily set up wirelessly whereas the 7000 could not. It has two USB slots, so can accept a flash drive in one and WiFi adapter in the other. It has a self updating EPG, which the 7000 does not have. On the negative side, it has a slower processor, so some patience is needed and it generally feels less responsive than the 7000.However, on balance, it is a good box for the price.

Love this box, easy to setup, latest firmware from blade media has ironed out a few bugs and made it much more stable. Easy to update via usb flash drive or hdd, picture quality is great on sd and superb on hd channels, optical audio cable gives great 5.1 decoded sound on channels that carry it. Recording and live pause functions available via USB, would recommend a fast external hdd over a flash drive for these functions. All in all, Would definitely recommend this box to anyone who wants straightforward setup. Speedy and good delivery service from teckstar.

This is pretty much a car without wheels so be prepared for a bit of work to get it doing anything useful. It has now largely been surpassed by other stuff on the market therefore mine is about to be pensioned off after a year.

Have my BM5000s a few weeks new box from blade media only released about 2 months.Very easy to set up straight out of the box stunning HD picture and great 3D.Recording to memory stick or Hardrive works spot on and plays all multimedia files i have tried to use.Overall Great value box and excellent customer service and support from the seller.
