A well-constructed classic; examples + insight = useful takeaways
Although the examples are a bit dated, I think the author does a fine job explaining how and why to short stocks based on fundamental reasons. I found her writing style to be very entertaining, which definitely kept the reader's attention. Overall, an enjoyable read and a welcome contrast to the seemingly "always sunny" tone all too common on the street.

A wealth of practical ideas to make money
By now i must have have read this book 10x. I am in the financial services business since last 25 years in India. Its a must must read. It talks about real life situation and gives lots of ideas to trade smart and make money. Most of the books i have so far read on the subject have been more on theory where as this is more actionable and talks about raw hard facts about trading. Please read it and use the wisdom mentioned therein.

I Wanted More From This Book
Not enough books exist on the methods and rigor required for short selling, and for what it’s worth, “The Art of Short Selling” is the best book I’ve read on the subject. The book is rooted in fundamental analysis and focuses on long-term short positions (from months to years). The GoodI thought the author did a good job teaching you how to identify a successful short. I specifically liked the last third of the book where it plainly describes the questions you should ask yourself before you short a stock. As a beginner, that was helpful. The BadThe book could have been organized better. A short selling overview first, short selling checklist and THEN the detailed case studies. Without the context offered at the end of the book, I found myself skipping the case studies.I was also surprised to see a book written on short selling without mentioning stock options. Short selling is rarely done “naked”. Most short positions are entered hedged against calls or by buying puts.I understand the book’s focus was accounting and financial analysis, but even simply recommending a beginner’s option book would have sufficed.

Treasure trove of info
This book is an absolute fount of knowledge on how to train your mind to look at companies with a healthy skepticism not commonly found amongst most institutional analysts. Even if you have no interest in shorting stocks, the lessons in this book apply just as much to analyzing bullish plays and confirming your thesis behind them.

This “expose” on Short-Selling is actually a “work of Art”!
A truly gripping account and introduction to the world of Short-selling...a “risk management tool (combined with options strategies, as called for) and a “contrarian”, investment strategy. Quite a “page turner” for me...and may be for some others too. Try it.

Great overview of short-selling fundamentals with specific examples and financial statements. Great book for investors to read, as weeding out and shorting questionable investments, as well as identifying great ones, are overlapping skillets.

Great book
A lofty price, but the book is brilliant. It was recommended by one of the best short sellers in the world, and I can see why. It’s a book I will read It several times as there is a lot in it. Full of good examples of how to identify why a stock should be shorted. Strangely, I will probably use the information/ analysis for all long positions too as it is just as useful for helping avoid big losers.
