A compelling and lively story of a group of fascinating women!
A very well researched and beautifully written account of the art scene in early twentieth century New York and the women who were central to it. It’s underpinned by lots of social and political history, showing how campaigns for women’s right and other freedoms were linked to this phenomenon of women leading the way in modern art and culture.I was hooked from the beginning by the interconnected stories of fascinating women, like the shocking Baroness Elsa and Beatrice Wood, not to mention all the fabulous parties! Every page left me wanting more… a real eye opener that opened up a new world to me, I felt truly immersed in bohemian Greenwich Village. Considering the level of detail and research, it’s a delightful read that I raced through in a few days.
