MacBook Seniors Guide: A Step-by-Step Manual for the Non-Tech-Savvy to Master Your Mac in No Time (Tech guides for Seniors) Paperback – November 12, 2022

I know this book is aimed at seniors, but I am so new to Macbooks that I needed a good intro guide. This book is just what I was needing. There are some great screen grabs all along the way to help the learning process. The book starts with the basics, like turning on and setting up. But, then we move on to more advanced topics at an appropriate pace. The author spoke in a way that helped me learn and not in a condescending way. So, I appreciated that very much. I also thought the author moved at a great pace through the book, it was not too slow that I was bored or too fast that I was overwhelmed and lost. I think this is a good book.

- - - but I still can’t get my new Mac Pro Laptop set up. Both the book and the on-line set up prompts are using terminology I simply do not understand. The last and only time I had to set up a computer was over 10 years ago when I bought a Dell Lap Top which had a set up disk that made it easy to get up and running in short order. My late husband (an engineer) kept all the computers up & working, but now it is all my responsibility and I am WAAAY out of my league & comfort zone. Need to get the new lap top up and working soon because my old I-Pad is on its last legs.

I’ve used Apple computers for the last 15 years, except for the last several when I’ve had a Chromebook as well as a PC at work.I bought a new MacBook and realized I’m a little rusty with the OS. I almost bought a Dummies book but figured I’d get to this Seniors Guide as I definitely qualify.Example: the book tells me to tap the Apple icon, then select System Preferences, which is not there ( nor anywhere else that I was able to find. I tried System Settings but that didn’t yield the actions I was looking for.I randomly skimmed through the book and several directions lacked the detail I needed to accomplish the task.I requested a refund and just ordered Sonoma for Dummies.

A lot of basic fluff. If you are a mushroom and never touched a computer before, this book is for you. Why are you targeting Seniors? going to the donation pile. Not worth returning.

This book is helpful for anyone just getting a Mac book. They can be very confusing, so I found this guide book to be extremely helpful, especially when I was trying to set it up.

Absolutely useless guide. Badly written, badly thought out and not at all helpful in getting a functional knowledge of MacBook. Get MUCH better help on free videos on Youtube.

My father has always been what I would call a "Windows" person, and because he has heard so many good things about Macs, he has decided to make the switch but is unable to use it properly. To help him and not make him nervous every time he turns it on, I decided to give him this book that contains all the hidden tips and tricks he needs to get the most out of his Macbook. The instructions are very clear and intuitive and are guiding him in an easy way both to configure it and to do the most common actions such as going on social networks, shopping online and using e-mail. Finally, with this guide, he's getting around independently and I'm glad I gave it to him.
