Very clear, well made and excellent visual at an affordable price
Ever since I tried one of these eye pieces, I wanted to get one to test it on my new dobsonian telescope. This thing does not dissapoint. I have used better and worse for sure, but x-cel lx is by FAR the most bang for your money. The eye relief is incredible, very comfortable. Compared to an UWA eye piece, this one is a lot more clear, no chromatic aberration and almost almost perfect flat field to the end. The FOV is aboutm60% and it is usable, even close to the edges. The construction is rock solid and the twist up eye guard is a great addition. What I like the most is that if you switch between X/CEL eyepieces, you do not need to refocus, if any. I now have the 25mm, 9mm and 2x Barlow, highly highly recommended product line.

Excellent Upgrade for Celestron 8 SE - Celestron Xcel LX 25mm Lens
I recently purchased the Celestron Xcel LX Series 25mm lens for my Celestron 8 SE telescope, and I couldn't be more pleased with the quality and performance I received, especially considering the reasonable price point. The difference in quality between the Xcel LX Series lens and the ones that came with my telescope is immediately noticeable. The Xcel LX lens provides a significant upgrade in terms of clarity, sharpness, and overall viewing experience. The images are crisp, and the details of celestial objects are much more defined compared to the stock lenses. The construction of the Xcel LX lens is impressive. The build feels sturdy, and the materials used are of high quality. The eyepiece is comfortable to use, and the adjustable eye relief is a great feature, allowing for a personalized and comfortable viewing experience, especially during extended observation sessions. One of the standout features of the Xcel LX Series is the wide field of view it offers. It enhances the immersive feeling of observing celestial objects, making it easier to locate and appreciate a broader area of the night sky. This is particularly beneficial for celestial navigation and observing larger astronomical phenomena. The 25mm focal length is versatile, providing a good balance between magnification and field of view. It's suitable for observing a variety of celestial objects, from the moon and planets to deep-sky objects like nebulae and galaxies. In summary, the Celestron Xcel LX Series 25mm lens is an excellent investment for anyone looking to enhance the performance of their Celestron 8 SE telescope. The improved optics, solid construction, and reasonable price make it a standout choice for amateur astronomers seeking a quality eyepiece. I highly recommend the Celestron Xcel LX Series to fellow enthusiasts looking to take their stargazing experience to the next level.

Favorite eyepiece of my set!
This product is very popular and I see why now. I love the sturdiness and durability of the eyepiece! And of course the quality of views. This is my mostly used eyepiece with or without Barlow…. The adjustable eye up allowed me to take photos aswell with my phone and it looks even better to the naked eye… check out the photo of orions nebula I captured using my iPhone 13!

A fairly priced quality replacement for the poor eyepieces that typically ship with entry level telescopes
A solid, well built eyepiece, that does not show not any chipping “paint” when repeatedly tightening the DIY holding screw of my DIY Crayford – in slightly different places. If you need something light, go for a Plössl, because this baby weighs in at a respectable 7.3 oz / 207 g, which is about half of the weight of the camera I'm using with my 6" Dob.I have yet to test it extensively, but at first sight (moon viewing) it is free of distortions, obvious chromatic aberrations and sharp as a pin. It's long focal length and a fairly wide Apparent FoV of 60º makes it an ideal companion for low-end telescopes (from ± 4 to 8"), for viewing planets and general deep sky objects. It is also a fairly priced (USD 65 + shipping / taxes) quality replacement for the crappy eyepieces that typically ship with entry level scopes.Although it’s 16mm eye relief eye cup is supposed to be a boon for eyeglass wearers, I have foud that I’m better off keeping it all the way down. Of course, your experience may be different.Still, it is good to know it is there, because in many eyepieces the relief may be a magnitude smaller or virtually non existent.Last but not least, the X-Cell series is supposed to be parfocal, although I have yet to prove this, which means that you can swap out any eyepiece without having to refocus. In conclusion. To me, the 25mm focal length is to a smallish scope what a 50mm lens is to a SLR camera: the one you start out with and – most likely – the only one that may not be amiss in most anybody’s bag.Although most likely not at the top of it’s class, the Celestron X-Cel 25mm is good and akin to a 50mm f/1.8 lens: a well-proven quality optical design in combination with a lot of bang for your buck.Given the positive experience with this eyepiece, I will soon aquire a shorter focal length from the same series (likely 9mm) in the hope that it will perform as well as this one.

Quality lens
Love this eyepiece, lens quality is great definitely better than the ones my scope came with, easy to install and use, the lens is large in size and heavy, would recommend if using lenses provided with celestron’s scope.

Excellent
Not much difference between this and the supplied 25mm Celestron 8SE, but it can make a difference. Was able to capture the entire FOV for the double double, which was very impressive. Great for DSO and very faint light. Price is right and very fine EP

Great eyepiece
Fantastic quality, great magnification and crisp details of planets.

Overpriced
Overpriced. Just use a good 2x Barlow with the 10mm that comes with a telescope.
