A Sweet Surprise!
I purchased these with the thought in mind of highlighting certain text in my Bible that I wanted to place importance on. After using the highlighters, I was disappointed to see they had more the consistency of lipstick than of what you'd expect from a traditional highlighter. Additionally, I bared down too hard and used too much product and this caused things to be sticky and difficult to dry. Boy, I was angry! So much so, that I began trying to remove my mess, only to discover it smearing and running over the immediate area of the page. When I discovered I couldn't remove it unless I had something moist, (it comes off easily with a baby wipe but that's not practical on Bible pages!) I decided to turn my mess into a work of art and that's what happened! Since then, I've learned how to push those colors into each other, seamlessly, and use them for the backgrounds of some of my best Bible journaling projects! The actual product comes in a gel-like consistency and lasts a good while, depending on how much you use it. Since my first purchase, I've bought several sets of these highlighters in all the different forms and I absolutely LOVE how they cause The Word to leap off the page! I really can't say much about their basic text highlighting abilities so you might stick to the traditional ones for that, but they can't be beat for creating the most vivid and incredible backgrounds! Incidentally, after your project sets and dries completely, you can write on it with ink. I will DEFINITELY be buying more when my stash runs out!

Beautiful
The first time I used the yellow highlighter, I got a huge smile at just how bright it was, and how well it contrasted the text. I bought these for a Bible, and they work great. They don't bleed through, and I haven't had any trouble with them showing through the other side of the page in anyway that's distracting. I made a color code for my Bible reading (which is why I bought this variety of colors), and I've been having a lot of fun reading. I read through Romans and almost have the entire letter highlighted. Since each color represents a different thing, I read each sentence with a lot more intention, so I notice way more than I did when I was just reading to get it done.I also use these for other books with thicker pages and they work just as good. It's incredible how bright the colors are.Oh! I will say, just about the only con I have (and this goes for these types of highlighters in general), is that sometimes the gel crumbles onto the page, or mucks up as you're highlighting. It doesn't ruin the page of the highlight, but it can cause little smudges here and there if you try to get those off with your finger, so use your fingernail instead. :D

Good highlighters but...
These gel highlighters are excellent and go on easy. Multiple colors to use and plenty of pens in this pack. Be careful not to over do it, the gel can be sticky and over highlighting opposite but facing pages can get the pages to stick together causing possible rips when turning pages. Other types of highlighters are available that do not stick as easily (such as the Sanford Dry Highlighters 26074) but have harder tips that can rip pages if your heavy handed. Another problem with facing pages is the highlighted page can "bleed" onto a facing page. Bleeding "through a page" has not been a problem, even on thin pages. Also you'll need to get in the habit of "rolling" your tip when applying these gel highlighters to keep it somewhat sharp (an old drafting skill). These will flatten fairly quick making it more difficult to keep the highlight on a specific line of text. Still, that makes another good point with this pack of pens, the tips are smaller than some highlighters which have larger tips and flatten much worse than these smaller pens making it virtually impossible to get a good highlight on a single line of text.EDIT: 02/27/2019 - I have been using these extensively for a while now (I practically color my study bible with them). Here are some new tips. I have found it is good to keep a box of Kleenex handy when using these highlighters. It helps greatly to softly wipe the "excess" grease from the highlighted pages. Doing so prevents the pages from sticking together and prevents the grease smearing onto a facing page as mentioned in my original review. It should also be noted the grease will eventually dry and hence the pages will not stick. If you get the highlight (grease) somewhere you don't want it use a Kleenex to wipe it off as best possible and then use a "white" eraser (try the Pentel Clic Eraser ZE21BP3M) to remove any remaining residue (works great!). You can do this while the grease is fresh without any problem but after it dries there is no hope. I use the white erasure to get clean edges on my highlights. Just be careful not to bare down to hard and rip a page (use two fingers to hold and stretch the page when erasing). You'll need to smooth down a new erasure tip slightly before using it on thin bible pages to prevent tearing. If you need to underline a verse it is best done before using the highlighters which allows you to use a greater variety of pens such as ball point. After you use a grease highlighter underlining will become impossible for some inks. You'll be forced to use fine tip felts which might bleed through. Otherwise these are great highlighters and highly recommended.

Smooth gliding. Nice colors.

Different
These are ok but I do not recommend them for a bible unless maybe it's a giant print. They're neat but too big for a bible for me.

Not a highlighter
It wouldn’t be upsetting if it was advertised correctly, as a crayon of sorts. Nothing about these pens are highlighters. They’re thick, and it smears and clumps up when used.
