How To Play The Chromatic Harmonica Instantly: The Book 2: Volume 2 (Encyclopedia Harmonica Master Book Series)

Just blowing the harmonica is playing instantly. The first few pages shows a couple of easy tunes then rest shows a scale for each note such as first page C sharp containing 7 sharps next is D sharp, with 2 sharps etc. This is not for the beginner but excellent for one who can play and would like playing in each key.

Although mentioned once or twice, tongue-blocking is not explained. This is a serious omission!It is obvious that nobody has proof-read the book, hence many (often hilarious) typosThe description of Modes is, like many similar, incomplete.MaintenanceThere should be some advice on freeing sticky slides, sticking wind-savers, warming up instruments before play, etc.

This book is a disgrace. The very first tune, "Mary Had a Little Lamb", has obvious mistakes in the tab. There are duplications where the same song has been printed with different names. There are glaring typographical errors too. Even the printing history contradicts itself. On the front page it says "printed in the USA", on the pack page, "printed in Great Britain by Amazon.co.uk" (!)As it was first published more than 20 years ago, you'd they'd get it right by now.Don't waste your money.

Great intro and well explained progression to the Chromatic Harmonica. Read and re-read many sections for understanding. A player can go as deep as one wants with the pictures high lighting the well-explained progressions. PRACTICE from simple to more challenging songs allows one to progress at their own speed. Looking forward to experimenting with playing along with radio as is mentioned in book.

But not as much about how to play as it is about music theory. Don't skip the theory, though. I have years in on keyboards and wind instruments, yet the information on how to apply the scales and modes to the harmonica is valuable to me.
