Inexpensive as compared to others very similar
First thing first, I received this manual transfer switch yesterday and just finished installing it, so I don't know how long it'll last. However, I can tell you by looking at it that it appears to be well made. Also, there are variants of these transfer switch here at Amazon, ranging from about $40.00 up to about $80.00. Most appear to be physically identical, but I don't know if they are the same but with different brand names, or just different parts. I opted to purchase this one which was in the lower price range, or $39.99 to be exact…as of this review.Basically, it works. I have a freezer in the back room of the house, and after I hooked up the transfer switch, which sits in the garage, I was able to run the freezer using a battery bank connected to an inverter. That’s the main reason I purchased this, to run the freezer from solar power when the grid is down. I’m sure it’ll work through a portable generator as well.Installation is straight forward, and the included instructions are sufficient for most DIY person. You basically hook up the green ground wire to the electrical panel’s ground terminals (in my case, the ground green wire was too short, so I replaced it with a regular ground wire, instead of splicing another piece of wire). The red wire (hot) is for grid power and hooks up the breaker and the white wire (neutral), which is parallel to the red wire at the transfer switch, goes to the neutral terminal at the electrical panel. The black wire connects to the circuit wire and the white wire connects to the circuit neutral wire. Do note that the transfer switch has two white (neutral) wires, one hook up to the grid and the other to the circuit you are trying to power with the switch. Each white wire sits parallel to its corresponding red and black wires. To prevent confusion, you can use a piece of tape and a marker to identify them before proceeding to the installation. There are no mounting screws, so you must supply your own (three each). The cut outs for the wires are 3\4”, so if you’re using a conduit for the wires, it’ll need to be 3\4” size. The included wire connectors work, although I opted to use my own because of better quality and easier to twist around the wires. In conclusion, I don’t think you’ll go wrong by purchasing this transfer switch and I recommend it.7/30/2023: If you have a shared circuit that meets all electrical codes, this transfer switch will work just fine. However, since when selecting ‘GENERATOR’ power switches the neutral, just the circuit that’s being connected to the transfer switch will work. The other shared circuit will lose power until the transfer switch is switched back to ‘NORMAL’.

Generator transfer
Seems to be good quality I haven’t installed it yet

Works good with Ford pro power.
Bought these to run my furnace and hot water heater from Ford pro power. Needed something that broke neutral from the panel so it does not trip the trucks breaker and these worked well. Just wish the cables were a but longer. Where I needed to connect in my panel was a challenge

Nice features compared with other similar devices
I like it but there's a couple of caveats. The most-important is that the knockouts are drilled already for 3/4" conduit (or liquid-tight, if outdoors/wet location) attachments but the covers (they're gasketed, which is also good) are METRIC. Thus the plastic spin-nuts are worthless; make sure you have the correct locking nuts for your conduit attachments, and if you have 1/2" for any of them you intend to use buy the bushings and such to convert to 3/4, since they're already the larger size lest you get to make a second trip to the hardware store. This unit switches both hot and neutral (as should be the case for these); note that this means neutral on the generator circuit side is distinct (not bonded.) If you don't understand what this means and how it interacts with your backup power find someone who does; its important.I like the power indication and gasketed cover for the backup inlet which is the significant improvement over the other similar devices. Knowing that the backup power is "hot" before switching to that power source is very useful and improves safety in the powered device since with the utility off knowing that the backup is "hot" is a good thing. The metal of the box is of heavy gauge and the cover piece overlaps at the top and thus is quite-secure.This will, for example, let you run a chest freezer or your gas-fired furnace when the power is off via a small (e.g. 2kw) genset. No heat in the winter can force you out of your home and result in severe property damage (e.g. frozen pipes) and this provides is a nice, safe and inexpensive mitigation against that. Just be aware of proper installation on the load side of the switch (it must go to the load directly with no way for a backfeed situation to exist.)IMHO very much fit-for-purpose especially considering the quite-reasonable price against the other offerings. Just be aware the plug is a 15A inlet and the breaker in the box for it is 15A and will obviously pop if you try to exceed that, as it should.

Perfect Solution
I live in a colder winter climate zone and occasionally there are power outages. I do not have a whole-house backup generator, but do have a smaller generator. This box is the perfect solution to allow me to easily run my furnace during a power outage without risking backreading power to the grid. It is safe, and the electrician said it was easy to install. In fact, he's buying one for his home! Great product at a fair price for peace of mind.

Better Quality than Expected
This seems to be a solid made unit with appropriate gauge wire and a bright light to show generator power. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase again.

Just what I was looking for
As I have looked over this unit I’m very pleased with the quality of the housing and electrical components. It will fit my application on the garage to what I was needing for when the electrical power goes out and I’m needing to run the portable generator
